Ruger SR22 It's Really Hard Not To Like This Gun - First Mag
The Ruger SR22 has what I like to call the baby Yoda effect. You can't help finding this gun incredibly adorable, considering how small it is. On the surface, adorable may seem like a negative thing depending on who you talk to, but adorable is a good thing in this sense if you ask me.
When you see baby Yoda, you can't help but smile. In comparison, it's tough not to smile while shooting such a small yet capable firearm, the Ruger SR22.

I bought this gun 2 years ago for my daughter when she was 12. She wanted to shoot but the 9mm recoil scared her. She loves shooting now. And she say dad can we go to the range this weekend. Family 👪 bonding time. Its a good firearm.

Everyone should learn how to shoot...good job Dad! It is hard to get kids to pay attention these days. My daughter just turned twelve...she can shoot a bb gun, a bow, throw knives and use a blowgun. When she isn't so scared, I have the perfect little 410 shotgun for her...the one I got 38 years ago when I was 5. Still has the bluing.

Excellent Father and daughter time I have a daughter who is 12 and she’s been shooting my S&W22 Victory for four years! My 10 year old son on the other hand has been shooting it only 3 years but now he has a 15-22 and a Heritage Rough Rider mostly to conserve ammunition but he really loves loading and unloading it he finally shot my AR-15 this year and at 75&80 yards he can blast h20 bottles and shaving cream cans with only a Romeo green dot

@@shanetoumey2835 I did clean it, yeah. Honestly, especially since it was my first gun, it's been pretty disappointing to have these issues. I had a Ruger SR22; the second gun I ever bought. It became a real Jam'o'matic after about 500 rounds. Tried everything, cleaning, different factory mags, different ammo. I ended up trading it to someone for a tricked out Mossberg 12ga shotgun with 300 rounds of ammo (which I flipped for a few Winchester M12s) Since having the SR22 and having so many issues, I haven't purchased any Ruger products.

I've had my SR22 since they first came out, it still has "SR22 Pistol" marked on it instead of simply "SR22". It's seen many thousands of rounds and has introduced a half dozen people to the joys of shooting. If I could change anything on the pistol I'd add an ambi slide release and either flip the safety the right way or just make it a spring-loaded decocker. Either way I personally use it only as a decocker, as double actions really don't need a safety, and my personal example isn't a daily carry and thus isn't kept loaded while away from the field or range.

I bought the SR22 years ago when it first came out. It was inexpensive, could shoot with it forever at the range with cheap ammo, and it fit great on my hands for such a "cute" gun. Love your reviews..... You are one of my go to's for this and many things. I've had an SR 22 for a few years. Wanted to add a decent semi .22 to the mix. Plinker, rabbit hunting, varmints, teaching tool..... I do have some good shooting experience, but really hadn't done much with the SR22 since getting it besides running it a bit to make sure operation was good, and making sure it was sighted in. Recently I went to a local range for an informal social .22 pistol competition evening. (although it was scored through some organization and data based). I could not have been happier with it's performance. It was my first ever "competition" of sorts and surprisingly to me, came in 4th of 10-15 in the stock pistol category. My observations: Many other types/brands of .22's on hand to watch operate. From "race" .22's to bone stockers, to old Mark 4's to modern Glock .22's. All seemed to be as accurate as the shooter and their skills. My SR22.....not one malfunction. And I was shooting up a mix of old stuff to "get rid of". Probably not a good tactic for a competition, but I was there mainly for the social aspect and to learn the ropes for these events. I was surprised at malfunctions of more expensive pistols. I saw a Mark 4 having some ammo finicky issues. On the right diet no issues. Both Glock .22's had occasional malfunctions of failure to eject and or stove pipe which was surprising to me being a Glock guy. Their accuracy was spot on, but those malf's slowed them down. One of the fully tricked out pistols ( I don't even know what it was all weighted and balance) had a hiccup or two as well. Not putting down any of the aforementioned pistols, as we know some need break in or dialing on on the shooters part, but the bone stock SR22 (with threaded barrel & protective bushing) ate everything I fed it, not one hiccup, and shot on target with that variety of ammo (lead & jacketed, and some 25-30 years old). It for sure is a fun plinker, trainer, stock competition, and future rabbit pistol. And if everything goes to poop.....viable self defense, albeit lower in the caliber algorithm. Bottom Line.....literally here..... I love mine and I think it is a great .22 semi-auto and value.

My first pistol years was a Ruger MK III. More recently, I picked up an SR9 as my first "concealed" carry pistol and also managed to find a MK III for a really good price.

I picked up one about 4 years ago. For introducing new shooters to handgun use it is perfect! Now the only issue is finding enough .22LR to feed it.😉

Had 1 for years. Love it! It doesn't matter how dirty it is, or what kind of ammo is used. It shoots well every time. Easy disassembly & reassembly. My p22 jammed when dirty & was difficult to assemble because of the guide spring. SR22 is much better

@@escapetherace1943 I like to do torture tests to see what they'll take and how dependable they are. Only certain guns though. The SR 22 performed very well. Much like Glock. G22 will take more than 3000 rounds before jamming, unless you use TulAmmo. Then it's about 300. That ammo is filthy.

Had mine for 5 years smooth as Ice and wonderfully easy to keep clean and awesome for teaching kids! And if some one broke into your home they would not know that it was 22 might be enough to make them think twice of course I prefer 9-10 mm myself but wife not really down with that recoil

I've had mine for about 8 years now. Can't say enough good things about this pistol. Eats ALL ammo, reliable, accurate, and very light. I've got the two tone version with a stainless bull type barrel, only draw back with my model is that it doesn't have a threaded barrel for suppressors. As for the saftey, I never use it. With the long trigger pull, I just leave it hot with hammer down. I also never use the decocker. I manually drop the hammer by holding it with my thumb and pulling the trigger(always in a safe direction kids).my only failure was when a grain of sand got under the extractor, causing it to fail to extract. Easy fix, probably shouldn't have been digging holes while it was on me.lol. I have shot the suppressed version with a larger can, very quiet. I have a lot of semi auto 22lr, this is my favorite.

Great video bro. We have several of these for practice since they are so close in size and feel as our Ruger Security 9 and Max 9. Way cheaper to train with these and very consistent firing pistol.
