Castle Kamýk also called Vrškamýk was probably built in the first half of the 13th century and was used by royal clerk and later for kings as aleasure and hunting mansion. During the reign of the Charles IV. the castle Karlštejn was built and castle Kamýk lost its significance and was agandoned in the second half of the 14th century. By the 1569 the castle is already in ruins.
In the aftermath the castle ruins were taken by rogue knights which were ambushing the ships on the near Vltava river.
After 2010 the castle was partly repaired and preserved for easy accessibility.
