Rukia’s Bankai and As Nodt’s Voll Stern Dich were visually stunning. As Nodt’s voice actor was so on point. Rukia’s Bankai is the definition of a glass cannon.

I love how both Hitsugaya and Rukia both have ice-based Zanpakuto, but this highlights how different they both are. Where Hitsugaya draws his ice from water, Rukia instead freezes the air around her. Where Daigurin Hyorinmaru has the highest room for potential and adaptibility, Hakke no Togame has the most raw power. Idk why, but I love seeing two Zanpakuto of the same type with two entirely different strengths and weaknesses.

I thought it was weird that byakuya was like immune to the Fear, but he has essentially conquered it because Rukia has become strong enough that he has no insecurity about her strength.

Everything about As Nodt, they did so much justice with it. Seeing Tatar Foras w incredible voice acting is beautiful.

Even my wife was like, "OH! She's pretty!!", lol. To be fair, the crystalline look of the outfit was incredible. One of the best full bankai transformations. It's been since 2005, but I finally can say I respect Rukia as a combatant on captain-level. That said, she has some biiiig shoes to fill. RIP Ukitake the Honorable

As someone who's been listening to "Shiro's Songbook: Bleach Bankai!" Ever since it came out, hearing Slip Away(Never Meant To Belong) as Rukia's bankai melted away, I was totally ecstatic to see it used for her big moment. It's HER song to most people, so its beautiful to see it return in such a fashion!

Rukia is one of my favorite Bleach characters and I always saw this fight as the end of her character arc. I remember when I first read the manga I rolled my eyes when Byakuya showed up because I thought he was going to steal the W from his sister. I got chills when he turned his back to As Nodt and left the fight to Rukia and her bankai. It really brings their sibling relationship full circle with Byakuya finally letting go of his overprotective feelings and acknowledging Rukia’s strength. This was one of the fights I was most excited for in this cour and I was not disappointed. Kenny vs Gremmy will be bonkers next episode.

My personal belief is that Renji didn’t appear in her fear because she isn’t concerned for him. She came down from the palace newly confident in him and his abilities, so isn’t worried about him dying etc. Perhaps that doesn’t make sense though.

That whole episode was absolutely amazing! The animation, Äs Nödt was insane, the fight! Holy hell Rukias bankai...outstanding

The ichigo scenes in the beginning really felt like Goku returning to Earth from King Kai’s planet during the saiyan arc.

This episode was so damn good. Love seeing Rukia shine like a diamond and Byakuya return to glory. Guess I’m a fangirl, because I’m happy he survived😅. Rukia is a Ice Cold beauty.

I think in anime they're trying to show Uryu's betrayal even more real than in the manga. They're making it seem like uryu is really on their side while taking out Jugram and Uryu's suspicious relationship

The fight was done absolute justicd. As Nodt’s VA was great, Rukia’s bankai was majestic, Ichigo’s return and interaction with Kisuke was very nice to see, and the pacing felt pretty good. Amazing episode.

I actually enjoyed Renji being omitted from Rukia’s fear scene. It conveys she has no insecurities when it comes to him. She knows how he feels about her and having both trained in the Palace together, she’s aware he can more than handle himself. Evidenced by the trust of leaving him alone against Mask after he took out 2 captains and commenting how Mask was no match for what Renji has become.

I’m fairly certain Rukia’s fear was that she wasn’t strong enough to protect her friends and loved ones. Renji wasn’t included in her vision because she already knew how strong he was and that he was more than capable on his own. From her perspective, she doesn’t know about the three in her flashback. Orihime bring included seems obvious, Ichigo’s fate is unknown to everyone but Mayuri and Kisuke, and Byakuya had lost and nearly died fighting the very same opponent she’s currently facing.

Good episode and I can understand why there is mix feelings about Byakuya’s return, but I think this was necessary. After all while Rukia has gotten stronger and achieved Bankai, she was still clearly inexperienced. And don’t get me wrong she earned this victory against As Nodt, but she was clearly about to lose and had her brother in law not show up, we would not get to see her majestic Bankai. Plus him being there was the emotional support that she needed to make one final push to step forward and grow. Additionally considering how the soul reapers were low on man power, Byakuya was definitely needed in this time of crisis, which I still also hope the anime give us a on screen battle against the five sternritters.

The anime moving the execution scene to this episode (when it should have happened way earlier according to the manga) is also useful in order to explain what's going to happen a few minutes later. In other words, Äs Nödt's only fear is basically ending up like Cang Du and BG9 (well, more like the auswahlen probably, but it's similar).

This was definitely the best episode of p2 so far. I love that rukia got her time to shine, unlocked her zanpaktou's true power, and has gotten her own bankai. It really shows how far she's come and how much more formidable she is now. But I equally love how great of a job they did with as nodt. The VA went above and beyond with this one. Literally could not have asked for anything better. I'm so excited tho for this next episode. I hope gremmy vs kenpachi looks as great as this one, and I anticipate it will.

I like how Rukia’s Bankai actually has some real danger to it. It’s not just another crazy power that has no drawbacks or caveats. *Edit: I never said there haven’t been powers like Rukia’s before. It’s just nice to see more that have actual danger for the user.

This is definitely in my top 3 episodes of tybw so far. From the execution scene to as nodt design and performance, to rukia moment and her growth. amazing work by everyone involved. Amazing review tomo👍.

The executions really highlight what Yhwach thinks of his followers. No surprise considering his ultimate goal matters more than anything and he sees himself as superior to all in either case, his own power allowing him to make that statement viable. Ironic that his victory would of seen the 'endangered' Quincies reduced if not destroyed alongside others but that's the thing with Yhwach, Aizen and others like them. Their end world is an exclusive, exclusionary one for gods only.

One thing I disagree with seemingly every reviewer is that I think Haschwalth is actually just as hostile towards Uryuu, but it's just a slow burn this time.

I always thought the aesthetic change of As Nodt's holy form was because his power is now a "You have to look at me once to feel the effect."-type power. You see the monster? Now you feel the fear. There's no "You see the Superstar? Now Mask gets more powerful." Or "You see Bambietta? Now you'll explode."

Truly I thought that as nodt was going to be the primary focus for all the animation spikes but rukias bankai was stunning, the glass almost mirror like ice, specially around her collar, i mean couldnt have said it better than byakuya, "that was a magnificent bankai rukia"

This episode really made Rukia’s power feel special and very importantly, different than Toshiro. Even with the manga material included, it no longer feels like their two swords have one thats always better than the other. Rukia feels like she got a big win here.

Urahara did smile in the anime after Ichigo told him he'd get the job done.

I was very excited for this episode and it delivered on a lot of what i wanted. animation wise it was just about perfect, but if i had a gripe it was that i found the fight a little confusing. i wish it had been slightly more clear why Rukia failed at the start but beyond that i was very happy. Rukia is one of my favorites and i hope she gets even more love. Great video, as always :)

I like how Byakuya explainong to Rukia that fear come from doubt is completely ignored when people question why she don't fear Renji dieing, well maybe because after training with him in the Ichibei palace Rukia don't have any doubt about him.

Best episode so far. There's something interesting about Äs Nödt's line of "Compared to that, I feel neither fear nor pain from battle!" Not in terms of writing because the line is exactly the same as in the manga, but the voice acting. The second half of the line is "kyōfu mo kutsū mo kanji nai" (恐怖モ　苦痛モ　感ジ無イ), literally meaning "fear, pain, I don't feel". But the voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka says the last part "kanji nai" in such a way that it sounds like "kanjieaeie". It just makes it sound so natural within the context rather than something simply read from a script. Another interesting thing that I didn't notice before. Byakuya is known to speak formally using Japanese honorific speech, known as "keigo" (respectful language). But he's actually quite extreme in that regard. Whenever he refers to Äs Nödt using a second person pronoun ("you"), he uses the pronoun "kei" (兄). This pronoun is a very respectful language used when referencing an older brother figure. Take note that this is someone who stole his Bankai and nearly killed him, and he's still using a pronoun like this to refer to him.

This could be kind of a reach but I interpreted Rukia's fear scene as her being afraid for those three at the moment. Byakuya said fear comes from insecurity and the last time she saw Byakuya he was barely alive, adding that she did not know the situation both Ichigo and Orihime were at the moment. She just saw Renji a moment ago and she left him with an opponent much weaker than him, also she did not fear for Ukitake, she must have known he wasn't at the "Seireitei" at the moment.

"Robert's shrift is the most nebulous" Well he is Sternritter N. Maybe he's "The Nebulous"? 😂

The best episode for this court. We really felt emotions from both rukia and as nodt. Giving backstory to the sternritter is so important to make the fight be something more than a power flex but an actual challenge that gives the character development

That shot of Rukia standing there clad in her bankai was stunning. If someone printed that on a t-shirt, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Hell, make a print of it and I'd hang it on my wall

Me personally, I would have wished that Rukia's fight was longer. What I've found in this season's fights is that it always feels like one side or another has control of the situation. There is some tug of war, but it's really only 1 or 2 flips of who has control. I'd like to see a more prolonged struggle if that makes sense.

This was one of the best episodes yet. And like you, this was one of my most antispated fights since Rukia is one of my favorite characters. The main fight was incredible. It was really awesome to follow Rukia's journey from the beginning story to know. To see how powerful she has become was fantastic. And getting the recognition from her brother was just so fwonderful after all this time. Like I said, to see her grow during the manga and anime was a really nice trip. Her Banki looked beautiful. And the fight looked fantastic. It was almost like Ichigo vs Ulquiorra. Especially the ending. Asnot finally knew what fear was as Ulquiorra finally learned what it was to have a heart. I am so excited to see what comes next, but we all know what that should be.

37:58 I think Tartar Foras isn't the name of the Holy Form but rather the name of the technique. Just as Mask has named techniques like star kick, star flash etc.

I did think that perhaps the Shrift and the transformation embodies not only a letter but also the most predominant aspect of a person's character. For example James could have been that he felt a predominant sense of inferiority. As such he manifested the letter S or Superstar viewing himself as the main character. As Nodt feared his death and viewed his existence as nothing but fearful. Manifesting as the ability to inflict fear in others. This also might explain why we don't see BG-9's shrift. While others are organic as a robot he wouldn't necessarily have any truly deep emotions. As such his holy form my simply be a passive boost to all his base powers. Same with Kangdu as he must have wanted to defend his people or his majesty. As such manifesting his shrift The Iron. Giselle being wanting to keep the people around her alive and as such manifesting the ability to keep them 'alive' as zombies. Haschwalth valuing Balance and as such giving him the ability to manipulate it to his ends. In a way this reflects the Shinigami and their Zanpakuto In fact it could have been a plan by Yhwach to counter them.

It’s really funny you mentioned Rukia’s Zanpaktou seeming to have changed because I was thinking similar. But thinking a little outside the box I guess her sword freezes the temperature of everything it touches right….she did mention the air and sky are part of its domain as well. So what we thought was her launching an ice blast attack of sorts may have actually been her flash freezing the space the sword occupied while at the same time extending outwards at a rapid pace which is basically Wht her bankai does

I felt that Cang's use of the Iron was more out of reflex and he was fortunate enough that it stopped Haschwalth's blade. Cang and BG9's silence also fits this situation much more appropriately because there is no reasoning with the man who was entrusted to carry out his duties while away. As for BG9, I honestly think he just doesnt have a Schrift as he's now seemingly confirmed to entirely mechanical. The K might be for more symbolic purposes and stands for something like Knowledge due to him always trying to gather more data. This then gets us into the mess of if a machine can have a soul or not.

I never even realized the flesh around As Nodt's mouth was ripped off. I thought it was just a face paint or a marking like Ulquiorra's eye tear. Maybe because it's hard to tell in a blue, grey and red setting what flesh or blood really is. In the manga it's more obvious now that you've shown the comparisons.

It's amazing to think how many sternritter were killed by other sternritter. Yhwach killed Robert, Gerard, Royd and Haschwalth, Haschwalth killed Cang, BG9 and Bazz B, Liltotto killed Pepe, Giselle killed Bambi, and Gremmy killed himself.

The episode really made the risk of rukia using bankai real, a beautify bankai but deadly and difficult to use, she nearly lost her hand.

As nodt probably is similar to ishida, being a survivor of auswahlen. But he is probably only barely alive, the reason why he is in that state? Also about the rukia seeing only byakuya, Ichigo and Inoue, I think it's part of this: byakuya is a symbol of hope for rukia, he is so strong that usually he could survive any enemy, but his fight against as nodt build fear in rukia that she could lose him. Ichigo, as we already know, is a splitting image of kaien, who she looked up to and was forced to kill twice, so she definitely fears losing him. Inoue is kinda weird, but maybe because she views her as someone she must protect. Rukia was beaten before or at the same time as renji, and she doesn't have time to realize how close he is to dying. In the palace, renji healed first and went ahead with Ichigo, unlike byakuya who needed so long to heal. So she doesn't have that fear of him dying as much as byakuya or Ichigo, and he doesn't need protection like inoue

I read that kubo was one that kept As Nodt backstory and him talking in detail about fear in the anime Pierrot originally wanted to cut and stream line all of that lol

This was my favorite episode in general this far in the TYBW. Visuals, voice acting, emotion, scenes. Everything was done great. Next week is going to mindless fun for the most part but will be cool to see nonetheless. My prediction as far as pacing goes the cour will end as a two parter with the following: 1.Battle between Ichigo and Uryu 2. Schutzstaffel battle with Zero Division (which I really hope they expand on 3. Yhwach vs Ichibei 4. Either Cour 2 ends with Ichibei’s death, Ichibei gets revived and has to rely on Ichigo to save the Seiretei and stop Yhwach, or Yhwach makes his new castle Warwhelt.

Best holy form, most beautiful bankai, amazing animation

I’m all but certain As Nodt is a Gemischt Quincy who survived the first Auswählen. Uryu’s mother Kanae also lived a few days after Auswählen, so it seems like As managed to survive even longer than that despite basically being at death’s door and that’s what drew Yhwach’s attention.

The anime having it be more see-through made it look just so much cooler.

Hello Mrtommo, love your videos I think they're very great and well made, however I've had a small issue about your recent videos that might just be a thing that bothers me personally and maybe a small minority of your viewers but I thought I'd bring it it up anyway. My issue is your pronunciation of character names, I'd just really appreciate it if names of characters were pronounced correctly, this is more specifically an issue when it comes to the sternritter, now I understand having pronounced the names for so many years since the anime wasn't out yet, and getting used to saying names wrong, but now that it is out and we hear their names being pronounced in the show, most of these instances being when a character introduces themself or when another character says their name, I see no reason to keep saying their names wrong. Haschwalth is "hash valt" Cang Du is "Ts'ang du" Quilge is "kill gay" Äs Nödt is "es not" Yhwach Bach is "yuha baha"

PRACTICALLY 1 HOUR LETS GOOOOOOO

I genuinely loved this episode. Kudo's to As Nodt's VA because I was watching on the family tv in the living room and my father in the kitchen looked over at me worried when he heard the feral and guttural screaming as he freed himself from the ice lol. When I saw Rukia's bankai, I was so happy. They did her justice, they made everyone look so good. I remember physically flinching when I saw the execution scene though. I was not expecting it to be that intense and I was just stupefied when I saw the bodies and heads being carted away. I think Uryu's and Haschwalth's relationship is slowly developing because Hasch feels like he's still suspicious of Uryu, but they don't want to reveal that Uryu is still a good boy just yet. Probably that extra fight being added they announced being Uryu vs Ichigo so it hits harder when we think he's fully on their side.

I have waited my entire life for this episode. Everything about this episode was pure fuckin gold. Äs's VA killed it. I remember a lot of people, me included, weren't instantly sold on his VA when first heard. But holy shit I had no idea he had THAT in him. He killed it! Äs Nödt is by far my fav Sternwritter, and his schrift ability is just the coolest shit. To see the Fear in all it's animated glory was a dream come true, what a dope ability, and super busted strong too. All the animations of the fear working, like the hands busting through Rukias's eyeballs, the flies, all of that was soooo damn cool and unnerving. Then we get the best part of the episode, Hakka No Togame. Rukia's bankai is probably THEE MOST beautiful bankai there is. From the beautiful kimono, to the ice flowers on her chest, to the ribbons on her back, the crown of ice, and then the gorgeouscollor of pure ice. Being able to see her face through the collar was animated so perfectly. The pale skin, the white hair, the crazy blue eyes. Oof, Rukia's bankai is just gorgeous. I am just over the moon about that episode. From probably the most gorgeous Bankai I have ever damn seen, to the scariest lookin weirdo we have seen, to Mayuri's surprise Pikachu face in his lil sun-suit. I know the other day I had just said that the Fundamental Virulence was my fav episode of the new arc, but this episode is giving it a real run for its money. At the moment? I cannot choose between the 2. But I don't think I'm crazy in saying those 2, along with Yamaji's fight are thee best episode of this entire TYBW arc, and among the best in the entire series. Oh this just keeps getting better n better n I am so here for it!!! Edit: Tartar Foras is just the coolest thing. His form is crazy scary lookin, and the whole "you're seeing me aren't you" scene was awesome looking. The eyeball dome Rukia gets trapped in is 100% inspired by the art of Alex Grey. He does the art for the band Tool. He specializes in trippy psychedelic art, with an emphasis on eyes. If you haven't heard of him, search up Alex Grey. His art will blow you away, and I think you'll agree Tartar Foras was 100% inspired from Alex's works. Edit again: yooo I never even noticed that Äs's monster form has 4 wings now, instead of the 2. That is so damn cool! Also, I just love that his "wings" are basically circular ssw blades.

I can't even contain my excitement to see Kenpachi fight again.
