I’m with you friend- I’d rather play a designed scenario than a generic point based match any day of the week.

Thanks for the video Dougie. I haven’t come across a modern rule set that I prefer but have bought Ultra Combat Modern. I might wait to see your video of the rules set in action and may purchase them. Cheers again 👍

@@DougiesWargamingBlogShow I reckon Top Malo will be perfect for you to cut your teeth on and to demonstrate the basics of the game. Good AARs go a long way to generate interest.

Excellent, been waiting for this one Dougie, thanks very much. Good thorough review and just the inspiration I need to get the rules printed and some figures on the table.

@@DougiesWargamingBlogShow it’s great to hear a thorough review with some discussion of the game’s fundamentals. It’s not easy to do that without giving away too much, risking copyright problems, but I reckon you’ve nailed here. There’s a lot I like the look of in this set, particularly that volume of fire counts for something. Too many sets allow a stack of hits, only for them all to be saved resulting in negligible effect. The suppression mechanics in this are the best I’ve seen. Now I just need a WW2 version. 😉

It's a great set of rules. I started with the WWII version and bought as well the modern ones. We were coming from Bolt Action and enjoyed them much better. It is as simple but a lot more tactical and interactive.

Thanks for the review! Is there some solo rules ?
@DougiesWargamingBlogShow Жыл бұрын
There’s no solo rules included but you could play both sides yourself although it wouldn’t be as much fun.

I've got a copy of the rules but have not played them yet. I liked your comments on the other systems, I've got Sangin and found them good, very thematic, but it is slow to crunch each trooper.

Geoff for me the larger the unit your playing with requires a simplification to some extent on detail. I’m not saying you can’t use Sangin for Platoon level games it does work but it really slows the turn down

Hello there. Just stumbled on this review so thank you very much. Can I ask, would this ruleset work for Vietnam? Cheers
