Ate there a couple times... I can summarize them and save 12 mins. Restaurant/Novelty shop serving cafeteria-quality food...

I worked for the company back in 1997..was fired...went back several years later and still banned from working with the company..wth!?!

I guess this is why the high turnover of employees..

What, you can't grab a side gig? I went through that before. I found a work around. Instead of working for cash, I took a restaurant and bar tab. Worked like a charm for 20 years.:)

I suspect that very few stores in California are run very differently or would be in hot water with our laws. No break... per Cal rules and laws = big time fines. Restricting employees from having another job... not going to happen here.

(1) Make sure that the customer's hot food is delivered cold. (2) Make sure bacon is burned to a cinder. (3) Keep the customer waiting 40 minutes before taking the order. (4) Don't come back to refill soda or coffee. (5) Make sure that a group of customers aren't all served at the same time, but rather that some are served a half hour after the others. (6) Complain to the manager that country music annoys them. (7) Never apologize no matter how poor the service has been.

Worst job that I EVER had was server for these nuts...Lasted 9 months, before I quit because they changed my schedule to require working on Thanksgiving day, at the last second. They were controlling on a crazy level.

Hence we see CRACKER BARREL supposedly failing.. Like Stupid tatoo rules and working for the same supplier is Stupid! Also not goving your employees a Free Meal is just WRONG and Evil.. But given CB status of surviving is expected out of them.

If you are working for tips, you can make them pay you at least minimum wage for all work times not available for tips.

I was hired and quit a job after just three days. Their “written policies” reached beyond the boundaries of the job,the building and the grounds of the company. They “thought” they controlled their people on personal time and after hours…..WRONG !! Crackle barrel is not an equal opportunity company. It’s no wonder they are closing down. 👍

At the Cracker Barrel employee I think the rules are just multiplying and my other many retail coworkers are trying to find jobs as well. I want to quit but I have to keep looking for other jobs until I have another one lined up and then give a week notice and I would have given two weeks but for 4 hours a week it's not worth it. I was told by many people that jobs usually do not favor people who don't have a job before they find another job. I feel like I'm working in a place we're basically they are constantly pushing their agenda that we are thieves but the customers are always right! Sadly there are employees that do steal but that's not every employee but I think in my honest opinion that it's mostly customers. All we can do is just give a description of what they look like and what they had in their hand and we cannot even do anything about it or else will get in trouble. The clear bag rule is just terrible and then constantly having our aprons checked it's just feels like I'm working in a security job or in a corporate job when it's only a retail/restaurant job. The retail items have gotten more expensive and if it wasn't for my discount then I wouldn't have bought it. I would be lucky if it's on clearance because that means it would be combined with my discount. You can't force customers to buy things if they don't want to! Then you get thousands of dollars that you have to make a sales every single day when it's just not realistic in our economy! I am trying to find other jobs but they are very tricky and if you answer something that they don't like you to answer or you don't have open availability then they don't hire you. I'm only working 4 hours a week and I tried to talk to my manager about it but he always tells me no but then again his hands are tied basically. My other coworkers are dealing with the same thing and especially with being cut early. I don't know but it just takes the magic of what used to be a really great place!

Jeans and polos are allowed now, as well as piercings. Most of the rest us straight from trying manuals and videos...I used to be a trainer.

Cracker Barrel is on the long slide downhill. Our local Cracker Barrel had one hour wait for seating in half empty dining room. In our seating area orders were placed. We left after waiting another hour for food. Next downhill hint a new CEO and sale to a holding company. Bye bye.

High prices, poooor service, loud echoing dining room, hard to get a table....Rather go to Fogo de Chao for their $20 salad bar, water to drink, and tip. Excellent food.

Cracker Barrel food is never hot, and the portion size of the food is not large enough. I have no problems with their rules , just need to do better on food being hot and portions are larger.

Wait. I predict this chain will shrink in the next few years with the drop in their quality and these outdated rules. Our local Cracker Barrel is an embarrassment on so many levels. I remember this chain fondly, but lately, it's a hangout for retirees and people looking for something they hope will be consistent. Guess what? IT ISN'T. This chain will not die, but it will contract.
