When I was studying, I lost my wallet on a bus. A year later, the authority of the college contacted me saying there's something for me. It was the wallet I've lost. My college ID and everything else was there, except the cash. May Allah forgive who took the cash and reward who returned the wallet

Then you should ask for proof. Like asking what was the amount of money or how the wallet look like. If the description of the person matches then you can be sure that it was his and if not then he is lying.

One time I found 20 dollars on the ground of outside the mosque after Friday khutbah prayer . I immediately went back to mosque donated and made dua . I said whoever belongs to this money , if he is none believer ya Allah guide him to Islam and if so he Muslim then ya Allah forgive his sins .months later I have seen a lot of ppl embracing Islam taking shahada . Who knows he was one of them . Allahu Akbar

Otherwise you may not be rewarded for the good deeds and for saying your sins you may gain even more sin as you should only ask Allah for help. It's better if nobody knows about your good deeds because then they were done simply to please Allah SWT

I remember when me and my family were on our way out of Egypt but my father dropped our passports far away from home. But great Maliki sheikh that my father knew was great friends with, found them and returned them to us despite us not having seen him in years and despite us being so far from him. He had them and gave them to us even though they were lost far near an airport I believe. Mashallah.

Basically, if it's a small thing, finders keepers. If it's a big thing, find the owner, if no owner in 1 year, finders keepers again.

As a niqabi I went to Target and I found a small black pouch in the parking lot with only 2 things in it: weed and almost $900 in cash. I threw the weed away and kept the money. Even with weed in it, if it had an ID I would have returned it. I told my husband that if I gave it to a Target employee, they would for sure just keep it for themselves. I thought I had more right to keep the money since I found it over an employee who didn’t find it. I thought keeping it was the best option. May Allah forgive me if I did wrong.

If its a small amount yes but if it a big amount you must try and find the owner for a year but if you can't find him for a year then it becomes yours and you can donate it to Charity

Once I found £5 and I spent it but than I kept losing my money. So I spent some money on charity and I asked Allah for forgiveness and than my money stopped going fast.

On my 1st year ofnhigh school, i found a $5 note, i gave it to the office since it wasnt mine, and a few weeks later i got called, i thought i was in trouble, but the office lady gave me the cash since nobody claimed it. It happened twice that year, which i guess was lucky. Im not muslim but religious

That’s why you do not announce the description of the lost property. Your job is to announce that you posses a lost item and when somebody asks about the property, you ask them to give the description of it, you’ll know if they’re lying if they give the wrong description.

I’ve had similar situations where I would find something then ask people if it was theirs then one would take claim of it and then I’d find out it wasn’t truly theirs so how do you deal with such things as anyone can just claim a 100 euros/dollars and so on to be theirs

My local imam mentioned something similar recently. He mentioned this ayah: { إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ یَشۡتَرُونَ بِعَهۡدِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَیۡمَـٰنِهِمۡ ثَمَنࣰا قَلِیلًا أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ لَا خَلَـٰقَ لَهُمۡ فِی ٱلۡـَٔاخِرَةِ وَلَا یُكَلِّمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا یَنظُرُ إِلَیۡهِمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ وَلَا یُزَكِّیهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِیمࣱ } [Surah Āli-ʿImrān: 77] {Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allāh and their [own] oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allāh will not speak to them or look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them; and they will have a painful punishment.} So the one who makes false claims in this world has sold his portion of the akhira in exchange for this small thing. In this world, it is possible to get away with things to a certain extent. But qiyama is when justice is served

How would you know that it isn’t theirs if they claimed it was? If someone claims it then you believe them and give it to them. Only Allah knows if they were truthful or not.

Me personally, even if I found 5 cents on the ground, I still would never feel I should use it, because it’s not mine. My father always says “whether you steal 1 million dollars, or 5 cents, you still stole, and you should return it to the person as soon as possible”. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable using it anyway 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

I think you should announce that you found lost money but don't describe the amount. If the rightful owner describes the amount, then you can give it

@@realyahIn retrospect I should have been a bit mired in precise on my explanation, what I meant was:“Couldn’t I instead bring it to the police and than if the person who lost it can just go to them to retrieve his money/item, and also nobody can just come in and just take it because they probably don’t even know about it and if they now they would probably be asked where they lost it.‘‘

Majority of people when they find money, almost anyone will say yes it is mine because they want the money. How would we know who is telling the truth? For eg you find $20 on the floor, no wallet just the $20 bill. Everyone will say yes it is mine...
