Or should I say "Red Bronx" as it was called in Hong Kong? Well, that was the English name, but it was also known as Hung Fan Kui
They sort of un-Jackied this gang hideout fight in order to create a faster pace and make it feel more American. We might not like it, but given that Rumble in the Bronx catapulted Jackie Chan to stardom in the West (finally) it's actually difficult to argue that it was a poor decision by the editing team. Jackie Chan has some cool moves that they edited out of the USA release, and now you can finally see them here in the Hong Kong version of Jackie Chan vs Marc Akerstream and his gang of thugs.

Right? The Japanese release of Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt removed nearly a quarter of a huge fight scene because it showed Jackie beating up a bunch of tattooed yakuza! Do they think people are going to Jackie Chan movies for the soundtracks or something?🤷

@@FightSceneFilmSchool well at least THAT had a reason behind it, no matter how ridiculous, I can't see why they take out huge portion of the fights. Especially when they don't seem to be doing anything but helping the movie

The Hong Kong version from Mr Nice guy was much darker and felt really different than the USA version

Fun fact If you noticed the thug wearing red long sleeve with the ponytail where Jackie was hitting him with the ski they switched the American guy to the same actor who was playing the gang member the asian male in the bottle scene you clearly see that’s him he was playing two different gang members there

The original Cantonese version from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 will always be the best to watch. In fact, I believe it's now available on Blu-ray.

The Hong Kong version of the movie is a bit slower paced as a whole, but has some great jokes. Jackie lifting the jugs of juice in front of the mirror and flexing in the supermarket? He tries to lift them out in front of himself like a shoulder raise but they're too heavy and he fails. Uncle Bill's wedding is half Western style and has a whole Chinese half to it that they cut. You might need to look for "Red Bronx." I think it's definitely worth watching. (^_^)

I've been searching for you@@El-Duderino-His-Dudeness I've been searching for you and this is what I have so far: A KZfaq link to the original Hong Kong version but with NO subtitles. The link is blocked in Canada (maybe all of North America, I don't know) due to a copyright claim, but if you use a VPN or the Tor browser you can watch it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l7KGnrxiuJ2vhGg.html If you use Tor and get the "blocked in your region" screen press ctrl+shift+L to reload through a different connection. Keep doing it until it gives you a connection from a country that it works in. Took me 3 tries.

I just tried something in a normal browser without a VPN that worked with the same link: Go to an online youtube video download site like snapsave dot io. Even if the video is blocked in your country you can download it through a site. It will need to be a downloading site whose servers aren't in a country where the video is blocked. Lucky for us, that's most of the youtube download sites out there. lol Enjoy!

The left out bottle bits were in the version I've seen in Canada so, i guess the changes were solely in the us market not just north America in whole.

Oh, weird! I saw it in Ontario when it came out and the part where they throw bottles at the pinball machines wasn't in it! 😮 The bottles just magically appeared on the pool table.

They should’ve kept the original full fight in the American cut same with the ladder fight scene in First Strike they basically cut seconds that was pretty cheap for New Line to do that

Just to illustrate how the US version was edited to make him a bad ass action hero, while the Hong Kong version kept in moments of him getting overwhelmed, retreating, etc. The US version cut a lot of comedic moments out of the rest of the film too, so the silly face is in reference to that version portraying him as a more comedic character. 🙃

Why why they change😡 the fight the usa studio's so if you wan't the see the real great fight by Jackie Chan you bu most by the hong kong version

I think it was because the Western audiences weren't used to an action star being funny or making mistakes during fight scenes. When this was made the West was still only making action movies with super muscular actors who were always cool and serious.
