Have you ever wanted to run a solar panel cable through the roof on your Jeep but didn't know how? What about an antenna line for a cell phone booster or even just another power source? Well today I have the answer for you. I take you through step by step on how I make a very clean and professional cable gland pass through that not only looks nice but is weatherproof!
Listed below is the cable gland I used

One idea: I think if I was going to this, while I was in the business I would run the wire at the same time. I would place the wire in the pass-through before sticking the pass-through to the roof. Main reason being, it is going to be terribly difficult to stick a wire up through the hole in the roof and then make a 90º turn and hit the hole in the grommet, let alone go the other way from outside in and hit the hole going down. Then there is the problem with the pre-made cables that run from the antenna to the radio units. I hate cutting and splicing antenna wires, so pre-placing the wire would eliminate all that. Great helpful video, good job.

I agree a 💯. That's what I did for the other side with the WeBoost antenna. This was done mostly for the video and to have it in place if I do add something later.

Watched twice. Thanks for the well-done detailed instructions, HOWEVER - now that I have watched Countless roof installation, light, and accessory videos I still have not found a single one that shows the best route for routing the wires back to the engine/battery. Everybody shows passing the wire through the roof - the end. Or wiring the engine compartment - the end. Or passing wires through fire wall - the end, Can anyone give me a link to a video showing how to route wires from the battery or aux pod to the roof? Thanks,

When I have had to do that before, I run mine up the inside of the A-pillar. If you fold your windshield down, you can see a path for a cable. Sorry I don't have a link for a video.

@@CodeBrownProductionsThanks for the response. I had the Mopar Aux switches installed by dealer and the four positive wire connections are located in the footwell of the passenger side so I was hoping for a firewall pass through from engine compartment to footwell. If they had one that is exactly like the pass through on the drivers side firewall. Thinking of drilling a hole through the firewall.

@@CodeBrownProductionsOK. - And after you run wire up the A PIllar to you run along the upper trim all the way to rear where you passed the wires through your roof?

Try red or gray scotch brite pads for scuffing parts like that in the future, much easier to get into the groove than sandpaper.

Also clean the surface with alcohol or prep solvent before scuffing and then again after. This prevents grinding any contaminants into the surface.
