i've driven through the pass at black bear mountain, i-40 east. you pray that nothing breaks in the transmission. that ramp is a huge deep sand pit, ramp in name only. shoulda looked like a speedboat in the bay spraying sand out, with braking cables anchored across ripping it to pieces. you're gonna tear up everything in it--especially your bank account. you'll have to take up Uber driving. you're done. fun vid.

Good evening, I'm Tabi Soviet and this is Channel 7 Beam News. Breaking news today as a garbage truck in East Coast, USA caught fire as it tried to go up a hill going around some construction. A construction worker at the site said he saw the engine go up in piles of smoke and into flames. The driver of the Garvil T series Garbage truck bailed as it went into flames and down the hill into a nearby water tower, causing it to fall onto a school bus. Thankfully, no one was injured. Just so you know, Truck brakes are air brakes, meaning they use air to open the brakes. If the pedal is pushed, it releases air, causing the WHOOSH sound. If the brake isn't pressed, the compressed air in the brake keeps it from stopping the vehicle. If they is no air pressure (brake failure), then the brakes close and stop the vehicle because there is no pressure to keep it open. This would mean that if there is a brake failure, it would have a similar effect to slamming the brake pedel.

Actually, I’m a truck driver and you have it backwards, if you have no air PSI, then the brakes won’t work if not already engaged, and when you have PSI, they will work, when you release the pedal, it makes a whoosh of the air releasing to disengaged the brakes, not when you push it, other than you having it backwards, it is all true!

That's how the brakes on trains work, but not trucks. Even if this was the case, most "brake failures" are caused by idiots who don't know how to control their speed properly and end up riding their brakes down hills. Brakes physically can't work continuously; they need time to cool between applications. If you ride them down a hill instead of using your transmission/engine to control your speed, they WILL overheat and fail. You can still have plenty of air pressure left, but overheated brakes won't work no matter how much pressure you give them.

Brilliant scenario, although im pretty sure a runaway lane isnt supposed to be open ended and allow a truck to fly off down into traffic killing people. Its just a really deep sandpit, like a gravel trap at a race track.

Funny, there’s a few runaway ramps in Utah that kind of go off a mountain like this, if I remember correctly 191 out of rock springs Wyoming has some similar to the one shown in the video, always laughed at how stupid the design seemed

First of all there would be no “runaway truck ramp” after such tight turns down a mountain. That ramp is reserved for places where trucks actually have a chance of getting too… usually long relatively straight and steep grades. Second no truck on earth could “over jump” the runaway truck ramp even if it was going 100 MPH. Nice try though

I absolutely love this but the only thing that gets on my nerves is the amount of laws broken. Technically not the officer's fault, they forced a car to stop in an intersection which is unsafe, as *very* clearly shown but of course it wouldn't be as fun but I'd like a tad more realism. Doesn't have to be much but it would be nice.

Exactly, ramp is usually made from rough sand or pebbles, which slow down the truck a lot. It's not a jump ramp usually :D
