RUNNER UP The Oceanmaker - Peter Baumann Original Score, 2017 Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest

In June 2017, I was delighted to find out that my original score to Mighty Coconut's fantastic animation 'The Oceanmaker' had been chosen as First Runner Up in the Emerging Composer category for the Cine Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest 2017. This year, the contest saw over 600 participants from 69 countries submit original scores. I hope you enjoy watching the film as much as I enjoyed composing the score and creating the additional sound design!
The contest was judged by Academy Award-winning composer Mychael Danna (Best Original Score, Life of Pi, 2012), Multiple BMI-award-winning composer and Emmy nominee George S. Clinton and Emmy Award-winning music editor, supervisor, conductor and Director of Screen Scoring at University of Southern California Daniel Carlin.

I still come back to this video every now and then, wishing more aviation themed content like this existed. There's so much you can do with aircraft as the focus.

Great job! Really liked the minimalism and texture of the intro. You handle the dramatic, emotional moments really well and there are so many great gems throughout the piece: as the plane flys towards the lighthouse, as the she ignites the burners just before the other planes arrive, and many more that I lost count of. Well done.
