Bit of a treat today, heading further afield up the M6 to Cumbria. Todays run is just a few miles south of the Lake District National Park on the north side of Morecambe Bay beside the river Kent at the beautiful seaside town of Grange-Over-Sands. Made popular when the railway arrived in 1857 the views along the estuary are spectacular. Looking out from Grange-Over-Sands we can see across to Silverdale, Carnforth and Morecambe as well as just being able to make out the huge block structure in the far distance that is the nuclear power station at Heysham. We take a run down the promenade and then along the front to Kents Bank then right along the edge to Humphrey Head where we pick up a country lane and follow it to Flookburgh which can offer the weary traveller refreshment at the pub, bakery and chip shop before heading down the hill to the edge of Cark and the train station which runs a regular service back to Grange-Over-Sands. The route is about 5 miles so great for walkers and runners of all abilty, so why not go and have an adventure of your own?
