So I've been researching this sport for a couple of years now. I really enjoyed your style of explaining how the wing operates, how many lines a wing has, the functions of each line, the general mechanics of the wing and the rules for engagement. Boy I'd sure like to have you for my instructor in this sport. You really should consider becoming a Certified Instructor. I believe that you'd be really great at it. Thanks for sharing your insight and your passion for this amazing sport. Be safe and God Bless !

Excellent video. Loved the guy who kept running even while in the air. This type of flying has always interested me, and I live by the water. Question: I did not see any lifejackets. What do you do in the event of an engine failure out over the water? Can you easily get out of the harness so the motor doesn't drown you? Do people just plan on swimming until someone notices they went down? Thanks.
@JohnBlackCaptain9 жыл бұрын
mmurphy147 Drowning is the number one cause of death in our sport. We have a great tool called an Agama that automatically inflates when you go into water. Zero deaths from drowning with this attached.

I really enjoyed watching your video, thanks for sharing. I took up this sport 15 years ago. I went through the glider training but not the paramotor training. I bought a new edel confidence wing and a second hand paramotor... I think it was an F3 but can't remember the brand... unfortunately due to difficult circumstances after I used my paraglider about 3 times it stayed in it's bag and the paramotor sat in a crate for 15 years... I have finally got past a very difficult time and keen to start up again. Can anyone tell me if these wings deteriorate over time? It has been kept inside although it was dusk when I last packed it and there may have been a slight amount of moisture about... many thanks in advance.
@JohnBlackCaptain8 жыл бұрын
+DeansVideoClips The safety margin on gliders is so much better now that it would be better to get a fresh wing. Yours may still be flyable but you should send it in to have it inspected.

+Jarod Morris You can carry some weight with you camping fishing would be no problem.
@gregsimonson43129 жыл бұрын
Yes, kiting the wing, over and over automatically makes a person a better pilot, I live on flatland, nearest hill is 3 hrs away, Ridge soaring is nice but if no thermals then it gets a bit boring, a motor would open up a whole new world, I could fly right at home on the farm.

You can fly many places but not everywhere. You need to read a sectional chart to see where the airports airspace is located as well as restricted areas. Most places are open to fly if you do so in a respectable manner.

I am really wanting to fly paramotors for many many years now but the fear of a collapse of the wing haunts me deeply. I can live with the risk of crashing into rocks yes but never the fear of the wing itself collapsing in midair.. that is very scary.. You know, the wing is flexible..
@aerowolf64399 жыл бұрын
leviterande all wings are flexible, look at how much glider wings flex when they fly. The flexing of wings is an entire field of study known as aero-elasticity for us aeronautical engineers, it actually really helps keep the ride smooth and absorb the bumpy air so it stays controllable for the pilot. We have it pretty well handled, Just don't stall it :)

the ture cost of the gears for foot launch is not $7000 at all.. here is the cost $5500 -- $14000 just for the paramotor ( the fan part including the harness and gas tank) {engine size and brand will dictate the price} $3000 --- 4200 for the para-glider ( the wing) $750 --- 1500 for reserve parachute.. ( emergency parachute ) $250 -- $400 for the floating device ( in case you landed in water ) $350 --- $1200 for viro-meter ( the device shows you the altitude and speed and other information) $50---$400 for the communication radio $350---- $850 for the helmet and headset $1800 --- $2600 for training

Maybe if you buy the premium new gear. I can easily get a used setup complete package for less than 5k. There is a certified instructor in cali that does the full training for 1k. 140 per day. Float device com viro meter are all luxury items.
