Think about River Phoenix: grew up in a cult that abused children (if he was or wasn’t we’ll probably never know), travelled with his family like nomads, never having any stable contacts outside his family, never went to school, always forced to adapt quickly. At age 9 started working and being the bread winner for his family (what were these parents actually doing???) Why is everybody shocked he did drugs and eventually overdosed? Ignore the image for one minute and look at the facts. He never had a real chance. What’s also interesting: in interviews everybody’s like: River was my best friend. He had a lot of “best friends” yet nobody called 911 when he needed it. His only real friend was his brother Joaquin. And I think he’s the only one really grieving his death. All the others still capitalize from his image as the acting prodigy - even until today. Marketing at it’s best.

it's really comical, how they pronounced "lahti" Christine is half Finnish and the last name has a particular way of pronouncing. I'm Finnnish so it made me laugh. This is one of my favourite movies and I enjoyed these interviews even though seeing River makes me feel a bit melancholy.
