Also know as Fast lane fever. This is the epic race scene that was at the ending of the movie. The blown 57 chevy against the Fox 1 Challenger.

The owner of the 57 Chev wouldn't actually let anyone else drive the car in the film. Couldn't blame him really as he had a LOT of money invested in the car. During the movie, the cars 'owner' Rebel (a blind man) claimed the Chev did a standing quarter in 9.2 seconds. This was the real owner's best time in the 800 hp beast. You can see the real owner driving when Mike is doing his doughnut burnout before the race with Fox.

But did anyone know the make of boat being towed behind the Holden sedan in the first 3 seconds of this clip was a Pongrass ? The enlarged forward facing cabin window is a dead giveaway :) Pongrass boats were built in the Sydney area during the early to mid 70's, and like many other earlier boats manufactured here in Aust, were made to a slowly growing market. Overall they were just another box of s h i t offered up to the recreational anglers of that era & showcased as some fantastic seagoing thing vessel, the 2nd hand car sales pitch at its finest...gotta love the 70-80's for the innovation across our nation that although good on occasions, most was rubbish. how bout 'it's not Vic'...its Victor'....PV...the arcadapane monza front :)

the doors that just FALL OFF the SAND that pours out of that blue... car... just fucking wow. and the pillars that were weak enough to be torn out of the ground and not hurt the front end or the windshield but somehow managed to smash the windshield into crystals, NOT Pieces. and the driver just so happening to have goggles instead of sunglasses. dude theres some shit even CGI can't fix.
@catey626 жыл бұрын
the windshield breaking the way it did is not bullshit..here in Australia most of our cars used toughened glass windscreens that shattered like that up until the late 70's..some even a bit longer than that.that included a lot of the older Chevs and other imports as well..was just cheaper and I think in some states is was actually a legal requirement...not 100% sure on that one...and all in all its no different to many American movies with over the top crashes, jumps chases etc...just how the movie industry is.

Occasionally I see Holdens, Australian Fords and Australian Chryslers in LHD. Most Australians would ask why, or think it odd, but not stupid. Up until the late 50s Holden were BUILDING Chevys in their factories, so there's some chance this car was even born that way
@catey626 жыл бұрын
Your'e right, Holdens did build LHD Holdens for export to other countries, and others would be cars people have imported to their countries and converted them to LHD themselves so they can register their cars. and yes, Holdens assembled Chevs and others in their factories in RHD form from CKD (completely knocked down) kits that we put together here for quite some time as well.a lot of these came from Canada from what I have been told.
