Great lesson video. Especially for me who never worked with alternate tunings until recently. I remember slaving over this song in standard when I first tried to learn it, because it was also one of my early goes at barre chords. Appreciate your videos. Easier to tune to open G (low E to C). That's how Browne plays it now. If you want to go up to the original key just capo at 2.

The original recording was made live in Maryland in August, 1977 (same show as The Load Out/Stay). Browne has said that every time they've played it since they've tried to replicate that version without success. The whole album was recorded live in concerts, tour buses, backstages, hotel rooms.

How about what looks to be an F#m chord in the verses? I cant seem to hit that one correctly at all.....

He seems to leave that out. From lowest string (I think it’s tuned to a low D) play frets 4, 4, and 2. Just strum those top three strings.

Okay I watched it and he left it tuned to E. It’s better to tune that down to D. Let it rung open on the first chord.
