You know the best thing about Robert, is if you've ever spent time with him, you'll get this: he's a friend for life. He's top of the class because he cares about people and he mixes stuff pretty good too.

Robert is one of the few that bridges the gap of technical knowledge and artistic passion. His ability to articulate the science of mixing in such a easy way inspires me to become better and not get bogged down in my habits. Thanks for the great content Nick!!!

Thank you, Robert, for your years of service. I actually met my beautiful wife at a Kenny Chesney show. When I looked her in the eye during "I Finally Found Somebody" I knew then and there that she was the one. 1997 Cincinnati. All these years later, and Kenny is still the most erotic music to plow my beautiful wife to. We put down a tarp and get demonic. Scares the dog away. Good times, and such great memories. Thank you Robert.

Fun fact, at university i used to play country songs when preparing for my calculus exams. Just saw this now and it's been a while since i last played a country song but i definitely remember all the country musician names from my uni days...you can tell how excited i am as a self-taught producer and engineer seeing this but also nostalgic, seeing "Kenny Chesney" name, about my good old math prodigy days.

I've mixed a few thousand shows in my time (I left the biz just BEFORE digital became common). Compared to what I had in the early 70's, the tools available today are absolutely stunning. Triggers for gates on the drums is something I did back in 80's...a very cool concept. Those transformers are essentially de-digitizers. They were common on many types of old analogue gear and provided that "classic" sound. I really liked his advice on learning to mix (I wish I had had that studio experience before being thrown into the fire many years ago). The fact that he constantly listens to music and is absorbing mirrors my experience, starting as a young boy. Great piece.

This video is incredible! For the guitar amps, perhaps I missed it, are they keeping cabs elsewhere or are they using something like an OX with an IR to get their tones?

Epic fail at Fedex on 5/25/2024. ZBB sounded great. KC vocals were very low - speakers were beyond distortion.

Absolute bs. Get in a studio to learn how to mix. The greatest live engineers have never been in a studio. And these studio guys can’t mix live without their 10000 plug in. As far as I am concerned this guy ruined live sound with those digi design console

@@flashanddancedj he is where he is because he created a console. he is where he is because of bs. have you heard Kenny s latest show. Drums and a vocal that's all you can hear. and that's the modern mix going on these days from must Audio engineers. drums drums more drums. I worked with a country artist mixing her in ears and all she could hear most nights was drums coming from the PA system. and there is nothing that fixes that except a better audio engineer
