Running the Japa 435 with 8-way Perfect Split, Box Wedge Pizza Oven Firewood

Today we ran a 14 - 15 inch hickory log through the Japa 435 with the 8 way perfect split knife. This gives us a very small finished product which is perfect for wood-fired pizza ovens, smokers, and any other situation where you want a hot and fast burn.

By far the best setup I've seen for packaged and cooking wood in the processor market. Planning to add one to my operation in the future.

Japa has the best performing box wedge out there, while Easton Made and Wolf Ridge etc, run ok, they are no where as consistent or fast as the Japa. Just awesome.

Hello, the Japa 435 can not be switched to a traditional knife, but it can be used with a 4-way or 6-way box-wedge knife. And it is available with a PTO shaft.

I have been looking into a machine like this for my business and I wondering if it could have a 10 12 way wedge with the sizes of 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches squares? Thanks 🙏 by the way what is the size of the 8 way wedge?

We do not offer a 10 or 12 way perfect split knife, but the largest pieces you see in the 6-way knife are at 3.5-4 inches, at the longest point. So the 8-way will be very close to the size you are looking for.

Hi Corey. This machine just left to the customer’s place. Our next 435 is due in here in April / May. We can set something up with you as soon as we have it. Also will email you the pricing for 3 phase option on Monday.

How big a log can the 435 handle

The 435 is rated for 17 inch diameter logs.

I know I'm 6 months late with this, but for future reference, and generally speaking, all the European built machines that I know of have their maximum cutting capacity in millimetres as part of the machine name. In this case, 435mm, a hint over 17 inches (17.126). I've not yet come across a machine that doesn't go by this convention.

In my livingroom I have a small heating stove (?) where that would be perfect size, if it just would be six inches shorter...

Hi Johannes, the 435 log stopper can actually be adjusted so the pieces are cut as short as 8 inches. But it's also possible to clamp blocks on the stopper to get even shorter pieces consistently - which we've done before to make wood chunks for our grills and smokers.

@@MetsaMachines Yup, we make them that way over here in Finland. I just had to comment because "in general" on KZfaq the size of the wood is a lot bigger than we are used to. If someone has compared an Eastonmade/Wolfridge video to a Japa/Hakki/Palax video they know... No, I don't personally build processors 😉😁.
