Very nice looks good, one thing though I would suggest putting some plexiglass along the side by the Hersey factory so your cars can not fall on the floor. Your layout is looking great though, and is running better now you raised it up, good job.

SMT - Those train set controllers can be very useful to power accessories, not only lights, but switch machines and electronic circuits for various layout functions. A simple overload/short circuit protector can be made with a 24- volt light bulb IN SERIES with one of the wires connected to the controller & what it is powering. Also, don't forget your trolley line!

That's a good point, I'm just more concerned about the metal casing.
@Petemonster6218 күн бұрын
@@SMTMainline - Using your multimeter, plug in the controller and check for any AC voltage between the metal casing and an electrical ground. If there is zero voltage, you can go ahead and connect the metal casing to a ground..

SMT - That sounds like a good idea having a "staging yard" below the layout to have trains appearing, travel through, and disappearing, simulating a larger railroad. You could represent interchange junctions with other railroads as well as junctions to branch lines of the Sudbury, Montreal, & Toronto Railway. You probably have enough towers to assign at each junction.

A Rix "Rail It" from Rix products might be helpful for putting an HO steam locomotive on the track!

Many of the Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning automobiles are 1/64th scale, which is S scale. Many of the "HO" slot cars are also 1/64th scale and would look a lot better with American Flyer S scale trains.

Are u going to the train show in Arnprior this Sunday? Cause that’s what I’m planning to do. I was hoping to do it on Saturday afternoon but got hooked up to do cleanup work at a tailgate sale. Just a friendly heads up.

I'm gonna try to

@@SMTMainline I went in the morning when it opened. Stayed for an hour. Took lots of photos and videos. While it was cash only, I only purchased two Lego figures that they had there.

In N Gauge, Mehano are terrible, Rivarossi are poor, especially the older models and Model Power are complete garbage. I have three Model Power and only one is working to any degree of reliabilty. Bachmann are good if you are lucky, Life Like are nice models and atlas from the late 1990s onwards are excellent, as are Kato. Aethern don't appear to do N Gauge, as I have never seen anything from them in N. All of my locos are DC, so I don't have any experience with DCC.
@SMTMainline27 күн бұрын
I wasn't aware Mehano even made N scale stuff
@Gfysimpletons26 күн бұрын
My 5 Rivs in N have been going for 25+ years 1-1.5 hrs every other month.

@@Gfysimpletons I find their HO stuff is decent, very well made motors. I haven't owned too many of their N scale locomotives myself.

@@SMTMainline They licencesd them from Model Power and put their branding on them.
@vincecrysler382123 күн бұрын
Athearn does do N scale. Magnificent stuff but expensive!! All of the others, are good. Any model whether Atlas, Kato or Model Power require regular cleaning, oiling, maintenance.
