"Did not finish" is still world's better than "did not start"! Thank you TRC once again and Anna, for sharing another challenge that did not end as expected. There are reasons we runners have more platitudes than most others like "if it was easy, everyone would do it." Great effort and you made it farther than the overwhelming majority of us, even experienced runners would. So, be proud and now, you have another reason to do it again!!!

I hadn’t realised the video was coming to an end and I was dreading Anna finishing. Once blisters establish themselves the fun disappears from any distance event. I was so relieved when she decided to DNF and with nothing but pride for what she’d achieved.

One of the best videos I’ve watched on TRC or any running content ever. It’s not always about winning or hitting PBs, running is about the adventure, comradery, facing your limits, having fun, and being grateful for the full breadth of the human experience! Well done Anna for taking on the challenge, making the right call , and being a great presenter and inspiration 💪

Your ultra running experience really shines here. Unstudied new route section, low visibility at night and no spare headtorch - this was definitely the right call. The fact that you had two other runners to stick to could have been a consideration, but you'd have to agree to stick together and that's hard when you're close to the cutoff time. I keep learning from you Anna!

Unfortunately Rich and Matt had already made the call that they wouldn’t continue, which was another consideration of mine to call it. My watch battery was dangerously low, and the medic picked up on my cough as being a chest infection - which I’ve had to have antibiotics and 2 weeks off to recover from 😢so many things stacked against me continuing 😔

Oh Anna! 😭 My heart bleeds for you but like your mum said, look at what you *did* achieve! The Lakes, whilst utterly beautiful, is incredibly brutal, even on a lovely clear day. Being in the mountains in the rain and wind isn't all that much fun, trust me, i've walked them enough to know, I can't imagine trying to run the distance you did. Even stepping up to the start line, with all the prep you put in was a huge achievement! I'm so glad you had the other 2 muskateers with you to keep your spirits up. Be proud of what you achieved, it might have been an official DNF but your heart and spirit clearly won the day.

I think you made a very wise and mature choice. To continue would have been dangerous. Mountains in the dark in cold, wet weather with poor visibility should be taken VERY seriously. Especially when you are already cold and exhausted. Congrats on an epic run! And I agree with many others... this was a very important video to share. Too often, as runners, we push too hard and take risks we shouldn't for the sake of our egos. Hope you enjoyed a cosy, warm night after your exploits on the mountains!

Absolutely amazing, and 100% the right decision with wet kit in those conditions. The mountains will still be there for another day! As for music and emotions, I was doing The Lap September this year, as I was climbing Wansfell, the lighting was perfect, the view was incredible, and I put on some 'sea shanties' and the song 'Cornwall' by fisherman's friends came on and the hairs were standing up, and my eyes started watering. Those moments, finish or not are what we do Ultras for, and also what give us the drive to grow as people. Whether it is a good or bad race in our heads, we always come out of a race a more improved person, and learn something new.
