Indeed that is true. The aftermath of 9/11 really hit the Concorde service hard, probably more so than the Air France Concorde crash. A lot of the typical Concorde passengers were the kind that worked in lower Manhattan including the World Trade Centre. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, were typical Concorde flyers and especially Cantor Fitzgerald who almost all of their staff were killed in the North Tower.

Loving these videos. I was 22 in 2000 and given that I was born, raised and still live in the Scottish highlands, I’ve never been lucky enough to fly in any of the classic aircraft that I love - any of the gorgeous 747s, the DC10/MD11, the 727 - I love these classic ladies. Today’s aircraft, although cleaner and better for the skies, just don’t have the same character as the older girls. Airbus aircraft, even back in the 90s, have always been so bloody ugly looking. Gimme an American Boeing any day! I’m 44 now and my kids are grown and my husband doesn’t understand my obsession with aircraft, but I swear if I win the lottery I’m buying myself a ticket across the Atlantic in the only 747 I’ll get to experience, the 800, and I’m gonna go to the Boeing factory at Everett. That’s been my dream for years but so far I’ve not managed to go......hopefully this year 👍🏻❤️

Im the same age and I used to work for a legacy carrier so I got to see and travel on the old girls - while the older planes had more "character" , the pax experience in for eg. Business Class in 2022, is miles ahead of where it was in 2000. The 748 is not leaps above the 744 in terms of pax experience, but I would still recommend a one way trip on the upper deck in a private pod.

So many of these jets are now used for freight! It's fun googling their registrations

Wish I could have spotted the Concord in person. Hoping to spot the A380 before they're gone someday. I was hoping to see an L-1011 in the video.

Incredible that the only plane+livery in the movie you can see today is the Uzbekistan 767-300ER

The first plane in the video, austrian a 342, is on sale for 80k. That exact same plane, now belongs to the french government and is for sale.

A rich person can buy it. Very sad to see lot of planes gone

No fcking way it's only for 80k, 80 Mil more likely (assuming it's airworthy)

Love how it starts off with Austrian Airline. I think it was renamed to FlyNiki which I think went when Lauda died.

Great video. Visited new york from london back in february 2000, remember flying back from jfk to heathrow seeing some of these classic planes plus both air france & british airways concordes departing from runway 31L and you could just see them fly past world trade centres (rip) in the background. Great days of airliners.
