Talk by Rupert Spira, where he delves into the intricate concepts of time and object, exploring the nature of reality through the lens of non-duality. This discussion, co-created by Rupert Spira and featuring insights from Bernardo Kastrup, provides a profound understanding of how our perceptions of time and objects shape our experience of the world.
In this video, Rupert Spira explains how the perception of time and objects is a co-created experience that reveals deeper truths about consciousness and existence. Through his unique perspective, rooted in non-dual philosophy, Spira invites us to question our assumptions and look beyond the surface of everyday experiences.

Fantastic perspective from Rupert. Non dualism at its best. When the highest truth is being transmitted the mind should have settled down. A mind that is not anchored and impure cannot comprehend Advaita. All spiritual effort is to settle the mind and at that time when the Guru tells the truth the disciple (who is humble and willing to learn) understands the true import. Otherwise all of this would not make sense to a mind that is swaying to the vagaries of life. Such a brilliant example and peacful,effortless delivery. The concept of being aware of the body as an object is explained in the text Tattvabodha by Sri AdiSankaracharya. My humble pranams to the master Rupert for explaining this beautifully and simply.

If there was only one nondual awareness it would have to be aware of everything at once - yet that's obviously not the case ! The reason for the existence of individual experience is the existence of individual awareness created by sense perception and brain activity ! Everything else is speculation - it's like telling yourself a story and believing it , because you want to believe it ! 🤗

There is no real separation in this appearance ever so it becomes obvious awareness is happening on its own without an apparent separate body .

Interestingly, we can perceive, even visually, without using our physical senses. For example, we use our eyes to see. And when we close them, we see a blank screen or field or plane, whatever we choose to call it. It may be black, or other colors, perhaps even patterns. We can choose to impose on it whatever we wish to imagine, and it can be very real and it's wonderful and necessary to conscious manifesting. But here's an experience I once had. I was at home alone, and lying down on a sofa. Several feet across the room a gas burning fireplace was blazing. I closed my eyes, and to my amazement, the view of the room began to emerge, like a fade in in a movie. But I wasn't seeing an image of the room, I saw the actual room in the present. I saw the flickering of the fireplace, all the details of the room, I was actually seeing the room. I opened my eyes and saw the same exact view. I closed and opened my eyes several times in succession, rapidly, slowly, tried it so many ways, but saw the same thing each time and continuously. The only difference was that the view was a slight shade lighter, brighter when my eyes were open than when they were closed. After a while I grew bored with it, my only thought was that my eyelids no longer and how it might become problematic when trying to fall asleep lol. Later I realized what a big blessing it would be to blind people and animals if this ability were encouraged and developed in them. It's funny, idk how it happened, I didn't consciously cause it, I never thought about or imagined such a thing. I guess I was very relaxed and it just happened, just seemed very natural, like it was no big deal.

But you did imagine it and it all depended on you having the concepts and ideas and images prior to all of that. So it’s still the brain and still cognitive. But what you described is literal imagination. But again this is just a personal experience, a story, it doesn’t mean much or prove anything. You could be mistaken and people often are, our brains are easy to trick. Also you do realize blind people CAN’T develop that tool and animals have way better sensation methods than we do right? This doesn’t help blind people because it’s not really sight. They can’t update what’s going on without you telling them and by then it can be too late. Honestly, give more thought before writing comments.

@@Darkloid21 But the brain is a substance that does not have consciousness and is not conscious of itself. The brain is not aware of itself. It is not possible for matter that does not have consciousness to produce consciousness.
@Darkloid21
@Darkloid21 2 ай бұрын
@@user-vm7nw3yd9l It is in fact possible because that is what the brain does and makes. Like I said we can literally turn it off with drugs and it’s happened to me. Literally nothing you said applies here the simple fact is the brain produces consciousness. Something doesn’t need consciousness to create consciousness, the world is a bit more complex than that. It’s like gravity, gravity isn’t technically physical but is the result of physical things. You’re just wrong.

Consciousness exists everywhere, in or out of the body. It is awareness that requires the agency of an observer. Consciousness is the canvas on which the portrait of the universe is painted. It is not in two dimensions as the statement would immediately be understood, but in many dimensions.

Rupert Spira 🙏 (Self) Awareness, is synonymous with (Self) Consciousness, is neither inside nor outside of body & mind. It is non-deterministic, non-local, undefinable, hence cannot be described or to speak about it. It is the 'life', 'aliveness' or 'beingness' of an individual - within & without body & mind, beyond space-time, boundless, perceiving all the time (timelessly), self existing & eternal. It is not born, and it never dies. It is the True (Self) Nature (of any an individual) which is part-whole of the entire Universal Nature which pervades the entire Universe or Creation. It is the "God" of & in everything and it 'knows & knows not' of everything. 😊🙏🙇‍♂️🌷

When the body dies, awareness ceases. So no. Awareness is not independent of the body. The closest thing Robert has to a point is this: in the context of epistemology, awareness comes first, and awareness of the body comes second. But you don't have to know that there's a bullet coming towards you to die from it. The core issue here is conflating knowing with being, and they are not synonyms.

How do you know awareness ceases when the body dies?

@@waltermiltenberger2537 Why do you want to imagine otherwise? Think about it a bit. You have zero evidence that awareness, or consciousness, is not brain function. There is plenty of evidence that it is.

@waltermiltenberger2537 Ай бұрын
@@wthomas5697could you share that evidence with me? I don’t have any evidence it carries on. I know what I’ve felt inside myself and have trust in what the master’s have said before me so I explore further. This world is an interesting place and it’s exciting to explore how far down the rabbit hole goes.

@@waltermiltenberger2537 You can easily look up what brain scientists know about consciousness. Not to mention anesthesiologists. They can turn consciousness on and off at will. It's not fully understood how it works yet, but it's clearly brain activity. I'm not sure what "masters" you're referring to but no matter who it is all they have to go on is their subjective take on their own experience. It's not science.
@waltermiltenberger2537

@@wthomas5697thanks for sharing. I wouldn’t say they are turning consciousness off or on more turning off the ability for our mind to receive and decode data from our body. Similar to how I would describe how we are when asleep. If you’re interested in exploring it look into Transcendental Meditation. No need to pay for a teacher which is likely the first thing that will come up on a google search, just look it up on KZfaq. When you enter into TM you are not receiving input from the body. It’s almost as if you are asleep but without dreaming. You come back with an overwhelming sense of peace. There are no doubt many Masters in this field but the ones I’ve learned from are Jesus, Michael Singer, Eckhart Tolle, Ram Dass, and lately for me Rupert. I think there is a difference between mind (ego/data) and self (consciousness/awareness). And I think you are matching together Awareness and receiving input from the body. Which is not what Rupert is saying I don’t think. I don’t remember exactly cause I only watched the video once. Awareness doesn’t have memory. It just is. Idk how to describe it. I could only suggest to read Michael Singer’s Untethered Soul. He does a great job of logically leading into all this that’s easy to follow along.

I think this man talks a lot of word salad which makes people think he’s really enlightened. He just seems to overcomplicate something that isn’t that complicated. We have a brain, we are alive and awake therefore we perceive and are aware 🤷🏼‍♂️, that’s it. You can think, and over-think it until your brain starts to fry, and talk about awareness of awareness and convince yourself that there’s more going on than there actually is, but it’s just your brain doing it’s thing 🤷🏼‍♂️

Regarding the people trying to convince me that I'm wrong, that I only imagined seeing without my eyes, that it had something to do with my brain, etc.: These people have no idea what consciousness is capable of. The plain fact of the matter is that it is consciousness which perceives, and it can do so with or without physical senses. I have had many OBE's, and certainly I was not perceiving through my physical eyes on occasions when I was nowhere near my body. No doubt some people will try to invalidate OBE's too. 😅 😅 Come to think of it, I was not aware of being out of my body since I was very close in proximity to it at the time of this incident. But, lightbulb moment! I just now realized that in fact I was right outside of my body at the time, right in front of my eyes, but so close to it, so I was observing from that vantage point, and the gradual fade in was actually me moving out of my body. And since there was no physical bodily dense matter to have to see through or with, I as pure consciousness had a clear unobstructed view. And opening my eyes simply augmented, intensified, brightened the view. I had wondered about the mechanics of how I was able to see without my eyes. Now I know, mystery solved. Fascinating 😊. Consciousness, the soul, actually has no location, so we don't actually live inside our heads, but we are afraid, so we attach ourselves to our body, attempt to hide inside it, limit ourselves. As for the brain, people confuse it with the mind. The brain is the headquarters command center of the body. It has the huge job of coordinating the 30 trillion cells in the body, and that's all it does. The mind, on the other hand, is an energy, a multisensory super computer, meant to be a conduit between the soul and the body, intended to serve the soul in functioning well in the 3D. The mind seeks to apprehend, analyze and understand the information that comes in via the bodily senses. It therefore doubts, as it seeks to interpret that which does not compute, namely, consciousness. As they say, you can't get there from here. Thank you to the detractors, this gave me the focus to revisit and reflect on how my experience happens. ❤️ ❤️.
