She does, and unlike so called celebrities, it's genuine, as is her interest in the people who attend.

Worked in a supermarket for 5 years. Only 3 out of 22 managers spoke to me. When I left, I commented to a colleague that I have had longer conversations with the Queen than with most of management. When did you meet the Queen.? they asked.. If only you had spoken to me , you would have found out all sorts of things about me! Now, good bye. Never went to that supermarket again.

I think this is amazing. It's a great way to honor those that have done extraordinary things or for their service to Country. I thought that was so sweet the man with the sheep that had tears in his eyes while he was speaking to the Queen and after when he was speaking to the cameraman. Shows you that the people still value the Monarchy and love their Queen.

The Honours system is a great way to say "thank you" to many deserving women and men. Orders, decorations and medals are not just for members of the Armed Forces, though they are rightly also deserving of recognition for their service. I believe that it is important for citizens of Commonwealth Realms to understand their country's honours system so that, when one knows of a person deserving of recognition, that one may forward the nomination.

Thanks Rupert for posting this on the very day that my wife received her MBE from Her Majesty, The Queen. Thanks go to all the staff at Buckingham Palace who are the most helpful and professional people I have ever met in any "walk of life". The funniest moment of the day, for me, was when I was asked to take a family photograph of the Beckwith family by Tamara herself! I did not have a clue who she was!!! Graeme.

The Queen's life of service should remind us of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability the British monarchy is for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth and for the world. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, which opposes illegal dictatorship and helps keep the peace. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia, have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy is an important one. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The Queen's Peace". Of course the Queen & Prince Philip had their failings as parents, and Prince Philip could be tactless. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service they give, and for the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in the world. There will always be violence in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the British monarchy. The value of the British crown since the 1700s is, many billions of people have lived under it without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives.

What are the benefits of having a republic in the UK now? The Monarchy is merely a figurehead (a very important role though) and has little to no political influence. They do not cost the public much. Why bother fixing what ain't broke?

The medals lose their charm (and dignity) being stored in a storeroom basement with gray file cabinets and treated like store storage room items. fail
@christophestevenson14485 жыл бұрын
The orders and decoration shown are stored in a palace ... in the storeroom for these honours. The dignity of an honours system is with the people being decorated, not in the yearly storage of the insignias.

@Boccherini6416 жыл бұрын
Oh I'm arrogant, that's rich!! You have the arrogance to assume that I don't have the right to my views. Power statement is rubbish, i think you need to go and read about the royal prerogative, gives the prime minister of the day the right to send troops to war without consulting parliament, not even the US president has such a power. Hitler argument is childish, are you saying the US or france have problems? The US is much more democratic than we are.

And what is that role? Wave her hand and speak like if she were God Almighty? She does nothing, nor does her husband or the whole family. This is 2008 not the 1700s.
