Class participants at Tillers International in Scotts, Mich., learn the techniques for building a shaving horse using traditional hand-powered woodworking tools.
The use of draw knives, hand powered drills, chuck braces, a variety of saws, rasps and many other tools are demonstrated.
Students ultimately finished with a shaving horse they took away from the class.
Tillers International teaches heritage crafts at its center in rural Scotts, Michigan, as well as providing tools and instruction to farmers in third world countries in Africa and the Caribbean.
