Fun Facts: Jackie Chan was frustrated by the production doing hours of safety for stunts. Mats, trampolines, and medical staff such and such. When he just wanted to do the stunts as fast as he can. He never needed that much safety precautions in his Hong Kong movies. Jackie Chan also did not like Chris Tucker at first. But they eventually do become good friends to this very day. There's an amazing YT channel called 'Every Frame a Painting'. They explain that Jackie is so skilled at fighting that it would actually get boring for the audience over the course of the film. So they have to give him a handicap in some way (An object he has to protect or something he's chained to) in order to preserve the tension.

Edit your comment to avoid spreading misinformation. Jackie's fights were never perceived to be boring by the majority of audiences. Besides the fact that Jackie is never shown as invincible in his films, Bruce Lee already proved that a dominant martial arts fighter doesn't necessarily equate to boredom. Jet Li has also played overpowered heroes such as in the Once Upon a Time in China franchise, yet those fights were heavily praised. It all comes down to presentation, which is a Jackie Chan expertise. Also, those 70+ likes really goes to show that people will believe anything on the internet. Metal Gear Solid 2 warned us about this. XD

In anime terms, Jackie Chan in his Hollywood movies is only using 5% of his abilities. His Hong Kong movies from the 80s & 90s have the most insane death-defying stunts. With injuries galore that caused him to be blacklisted by all insurance companies over there. He's like a combination of Buster Keaton, Tony Jaa, Tom Cruise, etc... 1994's Drunken Master 2 (aka The Legend of Drunken Master) is widely considered his magnum opus. No need to watch the 1978 original since they're barely connected storywise.

"He's really just throwing around this bomb like it's nothing." C4 isn't actually reactive, it won't explode just from being moved around or jostled. You can mold it like putty, set it on fire, and even shoot it with a gun and it won't explode. In order to explode, C4 has to receive both heat and a powerful shock (much more than simply dropping or even hitting it), which is why it's generally detonated with a smaller explosive placed inside it.

Leave the bus the way you came before the driver gets to you. The tourists, I promise, hoot and holler. Jackie-friggin'-Chan. It's a double-deck bus so you have a few seconds to exit, stage left. 21:36 So, if you didn't hear it or remember from the movie. The actual line was that Lee was supposed to say that "I suspect Juntao is behind this." There are no subtitles in the outtakes. So what Jackie accidentally said was, "I think that Soo Yung is behind this." But he caught himself a little too late and ended up messing up the line. He burst out into laughter. Now, his team, and Jackie, along with the people that spoke/understood Chinese began to laugh which caused the rest of the crew to know that he flopped the line. Then Chris just walked in pretty much just added more to the blooper reel. XD Jackie Chan doesn't speak fluent English, when he is asked to star in a western film, he always brings or works closely with English translators who are on set to help remind him of what the lines are. Sometimes, he's literally repeating english phrases or dialogue without fully knowing what he's saying at times. So most of his bloopers in a lot of Western english-speaking movies are him flubbing the lines and sometimes he has no idea why his costars are laughing until someone lets him know what he said was incorrect.

Drunken Master 2, Rumble in The Bronx and the Police Story movies are all excellent choices to watch Jackie Chan doing his stunts when he was in his prime! He eventually jacked himself up with an injury and had to chill out on the real cray cray stuff.

When you were talking about the British guy in the beginning, you should watch him in The Patriot next! Also they said they hated each other in this movie. Because of how opposite they were Jackie hated him for showing up to set late, not taking it seriously, etc. He had to talk to him one on one before they became friends in the sequels

Jackie Chan is one of my favorite martial arts actor. His blending of comedy and action is genius! My favorite move he ever did in a movie (I think it's from "Legend of the Drunken Master") is where he's fighting this guy, and somehow he's flipped the guy over onto his hands, Jackie is now HOLDING THE GUY by his feat, and walking him like a wheelbarrow. And the guy is looking around like "wtf?? how did THIS happen???" lmao PRICELESS!

Jackie's Hollywood movies are actually among his weakest. His peak streak was the decade leading up to this.(He sustained an injury on Rumble in The Bronx and the stunts were never quite at the same level again, and what makes his action scenes shine is rehearsal and prep time, which he always had less of in his American productions.) If you liked this, do yourself and your subscribers a favor and check out: Police Story 1-4 Project A 1-2 Armor of God 1-2 Dragons Forever Miracles: The Canton Godfather Drunken Master 2

I don't think Rumble in the Bronx slowed him down. His HK films after that still had insane stunts. He already sustained numerous injuries prior to '95, including the one that almost killed him back in the 80s.

you forgot the first drunken master which is actually even better than the 2nd. also, Wheels on Meals and Who Am I? but he does have 4 good Hollywood films which are the first 2 rush hours and both shanghai movies. i can understand if you don't like shanghai knights, but noon is genuinely good.

@@crobeastness He obviously didn't forget the first DM given that it's the same title just w/o the added number. Most people just prefer the sequel. Shanghai Knights features his best choreography in Hollywood since the director actually gave him lots of time.

@@jp3813 but then you would say something like to the effect of Drunken Master I & II. I love the sequel, i just don't get why people prefer it. And yes, i know that about the Shanghai Knights but i sometimes read people on the internet not liking because of certain plot points or them just comparing it and noon to rush hour 1 & 2 and then subjectively liking Chris Tucker over Owen Wilson.

Fun facts: you were correct, the closest Jackie got to dying from doing one of his own stunts was in a movie called police story. Also C4 will not actually do that, it’s INCREDIBLY stable. You could throw it against a wall, smash it with a hammer or even set it on fire and it won’t explode. That why it REQUIRES a detonator.

Great reaction! Love this movie. You should definitely do some more Jackie Chan reactions. My personal favourites are his 1980's movies (Dragons Forever, Project A 1 & 2, Police Story 1 & 2, Armour of God, Wheels on Meals etc) but some people prefer his 90's output (Who Am I?, First Strike, Rumble in the Bronx, Police story 3: Supercop, Mr Nice Guy, Operation Condor, Twin Dragons, Gorgeous etc). Either way, they are all so much fun.

Jackie is one of my all-time favorite actors. There's of course some movies of his I don't like, but I admire so much the dedication Jackie puts into everything he does. His chemistry with Chris Tucker in this trilogy is through the roof, but I genuinely feel like Jackie brings that out in people he works with. At a time when I really didn't like Owen Wilson as an actor he did Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights with Jackie and those films changed my opinion of Owen. Speaking of Shanghai Knights, that Umbrella fight with "Singing in the Rain" in the background is one of my favorite fight scenes ever.
