This was Neil Peart. John Rutsy was on their first album which was more straight ahead rock. From the second album on it was Neil on the drums and he was also the main lyrist. I just finished watching this song done live from 2015 the R40 tour. You can clearly see Geddy playing the bass with his hands and the synth with his feet. Song suggestion The Trees official music video Earthshine live in Rio Cheers 🇨🇦

I recommend checking out the live version of this song from the R40 tour. It's got cool staging and the intensity really comes through in the live context.
