@Chairman of the Board Wrong. I'm not a native speaker of English but I do know this. "Whom" is never the subject (only object), but "who" can be the subject. And the sentence "who ever lived" has "who" as subject. "I know someone who can help." Answer: he (the "who" who can help). "Whom have you called?" Answer: him (the "whom" who was called). Look it up in a reputable source if you don't believe me. :-)

Many casual fans of Rush often overlook Geddy Lee. The hardcore fans of Rush and of good rock music understand his musical ability is second to none. "I can't believe that's 3 guys" Actually Geddy is equivalent to about 3 guys with his badass bass, multiple keyboards and 3 octaves vocals. Geddy's backstory for starting the band is incredible as well. His father who survived the Holocaust passed away when Geddy was young and his mom who also survived the concentration camps had to work very hard to raise her family. Geddy started a band in their basement and dropped out of school as they got some local notice. Not wanting to disappoint his mother who had been through so much he worked extremely hard to prove to her his rock career was going to be successful. Canada can be very honored to have such welcoming arms to so many survivors of horrors of evil men from around the world.
@joshhale9355
@joshhale9355 3 жыл бұрын
Vocals have always been a major part of “instrumentation”. You can sing insanely but it always is another part of the piece. Geddy’s voice is so perfect because it was so outlandish for a rock singer to sing in that register he did, it was almost an alto when most rock singers were in the standard tenor range, he really made his voice a standard in rock and it adds so much to the music.

I haven't seen anyone else mention it so: this song was written as a tribute to the Toronto radio station CFNY 102.1 FM. It was one of the very first 'alternative' stations, started in the 1970s. They began to call themselves "The Spirit of Radio" and were one of the first radio stations to play Rush. In return, Rush wrote this song for them, and made sure the catalog number for the 'Permanent Waves' album was 1021. Sadly, CFNY is now 102.1, "The Edge", and plays the same 'alternative' music (Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Foo Fighters) that everyone else plays. But longtime Toronto radio listeners will remember when CFNY was FuNnY radio, and played stuff no one else had the guts to play.

Yes my friend, this is what real musicianship with real instruments sounds like. Not shallow computer generated, autotuned, mono toned garbage that the masses have been spoon fed for the past 20 years. Consummate professionals with real talent playing their instruments. Writing songs with intelligence rather than Producer controlled algorithm driven agendas to mass produce the same thing over and over just to make a buck.

@@MaddogJones Man, I'm telling you. IMO that album is the best of their's with Number of the Beast a close second. I was 18 and heading off to college in 83. Our band used the Where Eagles Dare main riff as a pre-practice and pre-gig warm up. What a song. Where Eagles Dare is the winner for me for Maiden's best song that is least mentioned. What a time of life - 100% agree, man.

@@gnpahdc One of the greatest mysteries in heavy metal to me is why Nicko refuses to play double bass? His single bass work puts most double bass player to shame, could you imagine Trooper played by him with a second bass bass. It's like people who play only match grip or traditional with their sticks. I've learned both and to play right and left handed. And bass player only either finger playing or only using a pick. They just seem to be limiting themselves.

1st, RUSH is Canadian, & we could not be more proud of how they represented us, 2nd, they were brilliant musicians & all could play more than 3 instruments, & only needed 3 of them to sound like a band of 5, and lastly, once you hear them, you are never the same, & now, you are one of us !!! LOL 😊 Oh ya, one of the reasons there were so many transitions in this particular song, is because RUSH, wanted to give the listeners the feeling of changing the channel on the radio!!!

Three guys from the GTA who knew their craft. They made it look effortless, so seamlessly PERFECT when they performed. Back in a time when recordings were done on tape, not digital. Flawless playing! Sadly, no chance of seeing them in concert now. RIP, Neil Peart. I love how he has been described as "Your favourite drummer's favourite drummer.
