Nick Korte Because Rush did have wives when they started out i thought. that could be a reason. Geddy did say they did alot of pot tho. And those women rockstars smash didnt see talent. They saw MONEY.

Simple because Kiss is just more catchy simple and unique image that's just how it works in today's music you know? Who get laid more the complicated jazz musicians with no image or uniqueness or the rock band who has a unique image and creates simple catchy songs?

Ron Baran Yup, but that's only because he's in the company of two other world-class musicians who frequently rank in top 10's of best bass players and drummers ever. I can't think of any other band with the same incredible musical prowess as this trio. I think the odds are one in a million for three people with this level of talent to meet each other and start a band.

Ron Baran I did say two OTHER world-class musicians. Alex's playing is nothing short of marvelous; this song and La Villa Strangiato are excellent examples of that. He also played that fantastic guitar solo on Porcupine Tree's "Anesthetize". Alex Gittins The Who and Led Zeppelin are also great examples of rock bands consisting of only really talented musicians (two of my favorites), but I can't see them nailing something as complex as YYZ live.

***** I'm with pug....I'm WAAAAAY better at Jerry was a Racecar Driver. Just too bad I don't have have a 6 string (just a 5 atm) so I technically can't play it correctly. Granted I've found that my niches seem to be tap and slap styles and not so much fast tempo complicated classic style bass licks. I can do the intro of YYZ but that's about where my skill stops and it's been that way with me trying to learn it for at least 7 or 8 years.

None of these guys got the credit they deserve. And in the time of their heyday they were one of the most underplayed bands on the radio. They were considered "too hard rock" or "not mainstream enough." Now they're "old." I think they are timeless and masterful. I still remember reading Omni magazine and listening to them as a kid.

Yes, technically CYYZ is in Missisauga, but it's called Toronto Pearson International Airport. YYZ VOR/DME is called Toronto VOR/DME (where the song and the rhythm originally came from). Rush is from Willowdale, North York.

Have seen them live several times. They can play this. There's a reason why Geddy Lee and Neil Peart are considered by many to be the best ever. And Alex is WAY under-rated on leads.

Best band of all time. They came up with so many complex beats and patterns and grooves. They combined all kinds of music together.. No one else sounds like Rush.. at all.. not even close. I Usually say stuff like.... Geddy was the best basist ever or Neil was the best drummer ever... But Alex is the best guitar player ever.... And im talking about over my favorite guitar player of all time , Randy Rhoads. I love when i was just getting into Rush... i had to listen to a song like 100 times to finally understand the beat and how they had so many different parts to a song... making the song a story.. taking your mind of a journey of thoughts and feelings... haha .

Can't get enough of the bass groove 2min in. That little drop down back to his groove - right after the pinch harmonics at the end of his 3rd solo (2:14). Freakin brilliant. Adds so much momentum. Little touches like that throughout that blow my mind.
