Please do a ground temperature check with your hand before taking your dog out for a walk. If it's hot to the touch then it's too hot for the dog's paw. I hope Annebelle has fully recovered with no longterm damage.

When idiots walk their dog in 100F weather and expect consequences other than the dog falling seriously ill/dying. I work in a Vet office - during the two-day July heatwave, we had 11 dogs brought to us in dire straits - 4 of them were too far gone to be saved. Seriously, what were you expecting? If you can’t hold the palm of your hand to the ground for 20 seconds, do not walk your dog on that hot surface.

From now on, hope Justin takes into account his actions affect more than himself. Especially when you're taking 'your person' with you on your hike.

No dog should be out on that long of a hike especially when its that hot. When it's hot the pavement gets extremely hot which burns dogs pads on their feet which dog owners should be well aware of. If its too hot for you its even hotter for a dog. This was totally preventable & going hiking they have dog shoes. & how could you leave Annabelle there knowing Justin was taken care of? That makes me so disgusted. I dont care if this sounds judgemental or not. Chris was taking care of Justin on the way to the hospital so Lindsay your next priority should have been Annabelle. You left her there, two people didn't need to be there for Justin until Annabelle was safe and on the way to the hospital. Like who does that? Lets have 2 people go with Justin but have no one get Annabelle when you were RIGHT THERE! She is apart of your family! She could have died in the time it took for hero Turin to get there. Poor Annabelle probably thought she was abandoned. 28:32 And how DARE you say I know she's just a dog?!?! Shes apart of your family! So no she is not just a dog! Most of us would NEVER say that about our fur babies. ESPECIALLY after what she was put through because of you. So tone deaf!!😡😡😡

I’m not crying your crying. They are tears of much joy that Annabelle and Justin are recovering well. I’m a dog person to. Matter of fact I’m currently fostering a year old beagle that has a severe injury to his L6 vertebrae. We hope he will make a full recovery. Thoughts and prayers that your fur baby is doing much better now. 🐾❤️

Oh my, what a harrowing story. A true miracle that Turin was lead to Annabelle and her subsequent recovery is heart warming. We have had many cases similar to Annabelle’s here in Colorado. So glad Justin and Annabelle are ok, Just wanting to let you know now that Annabelle has overheated like that it will be easier for her to overheat again. The heat will have more of an effect on her moving forward so please be careful with her in the heat. Short periods of time outside on hot days. Anything over 70 degrees will be to hot for her for long periods like 30 mins or more. I know this from experience with our dog. gOOD LUCK

Turin has a lot of maturity! ^5 Turin! When a dog is obviously over heated, you take some water and pour it slowly between the gap in her teeth. Not fast enough to make her inhale it, but enough to get some in her mouth. Have the Vet show you.

I’m glad to know all is safe and well. This is exactly why I don’t take my dog out for a walk in any time of weather above 85 degrees.

Omg I’m in tears. All I think is that poor Annabelle was somewhere in that mountain herself in so much pain. This video broke me.

Oh my goodness! I’m starting to cry AGAIN, as I type this note! I’m so grateful for Turin and Chris, your neighbors and brother-in-law, the two vet hospitals and the fact that Annabelle and Justin are OK. I’m 72, a runner, hiker and snow skier and the “mom” of 2 English Black Labs, and before them, 1 other English Black Lab and 4 Golden Retrievers. I’ve been on a hike w/ our 2 Labs when it was very hot, there was no water and they were reluctant to drink and totally unwilling to keep going. Luckily, I found some shade, got them to drink a bit, and rested them for multiple 10-15 min. stints as we descended a mountain. Heat stroke is no joke! We live in WA state and my husband has climbed Mt. Rainier and we can see it from our house!

A miracle sent from heaven from papa Bingham!♥️ A huge “thank you, we love you” for keeping Justin and Annabelle safe. So happy everyone is healthy and happy again 😇

What an emotional story! I was in tears for Justin and Annabelle just the entire situation and poor Turin being so brave and strong. He truly was guided by a higher power and he listened! Thank God that Justin and Annabelle are safe and doing ok now. Justin please look into getting Annabelle dog shoes. They make them for dogs feet because the pavement gets so hot. We have them for our dogs. This is something we do not realize that our poor animals soft feet are walking on very hot pavement, concrete or grounds. Place her paw on paper out line it with a pencil to get her right measurements. Sending you all a big hug!!! I am so glad that I saw Jared and Brits before this one to know that things must have been ok. So proud of you Turin!!!

Though I am very impressed that Justin was brave to say what he did was well, not so smart, the fact that he had tingling hands and legs means his heart is not working right. Though he did have an empty stomach and not enough water, a man his age should not have such symptoms. He really should visit a Cardiologist and tell him how his Father was only like 72 (pretty young) when he passed. Glad you and little Annabelle are OK Justin. If you can't get a do to drink water when it's super hot - try to stand them in some water as they absorb it through their paws - we had a dog who would overheat as he just wouldn't stop and the vet told us to stand him in water when this happened and it worked!!
