The lyrics are really cool except for a couple of parts that seem silly and/or out of place: "what's your band called", "go fetch me a milkshake and don't forget the straw", "you smell of hotel soap". Regardless, while the lyrics sound cool I can't even imagine anything that it might be talking about; the lyrics (with or without the parts I mentioned) seem somewhat nonsensical. Then again I didn't analyze them very hard.

I am purely speculating but from the lyrics as a whole as well as the beat and tone of the song I have two and a half theories that sort of cover the silly lyrics: Theory 1: This was written for/about King Power (the Leicester footie club) who have used Kasabian (a Leicester band) for anthems in the past. In this theory the hotel soap deals with the team travelling for games etc. I don't like this theory as much. Theory 2: This is Serge from Kasabian's interpretation of asshole bands' interactions with fans in public. (tbh, I don't know if Serge wrote this song but he does write most Kasabian songs so I'm assuming). In this theory the "What's your band called/go fetch me a milkshake..." lines deal with a fan who works in a restaurant telling the singer about their own efforts in the music industry. Instead of supporting them - or just nodding and smiling - the singer is an asshole who reminds the fan that they want their order and the "You smell of hotel soap" is actually intrinsically linked to "Trying to tell your joke Over and over just blowing smoke". It is pretty well known that one of Serge's best (famous) friends is Noel Fielding which makes this situation very similar to the earlier milkshake one - some young person attempting to get a start in the business can't get a joke out because of nerves or what have you. This theory also covers the line "you know my name" pretty well - the average person on the street might know the band "Kasabian" (Or blur of Busted or whatever) but not necessarily know all the band member's names. An asshole band would expect everyone to know their name. Theory 2.5: It is Serge from Kasabian pretending to be/reflecting on a past of being an asshole famous person (See theory 2).
