As an indian I must say, that an indian at heart will always remain one. Look at Russell, he jokes about indians and its terribly funny. But he always addresses them as my people and he is naturally happy and gleams with joy when he comes across an Indian guy/girl in the audience whom he can poke at and have fun. Been following your jokes and tours for years Russell, keep going brother . Cheers.

If he did indeed have A.D.D. I would imagine that probably had more to do with his grades than his innate intelligence, if you can't sit still/focus on what the teacher is saying, or what you're reading, it makes it difficult to learn anything. Of course he could just be saying he had "A.D.D." when he just wasn't at all interested in school, but it's actually pretty rare that somebody is totally uninterested in learning, merely that they're more interested in some subject areas than others.

For all the overt and covert oppression practiced in the caste system that deprives sections of the population of social and economic parity, the reservation system is one of the least justice we could do. The difference in score between "a person getting a seat through reservation quota" and "a person getting a seat through general quota" is just a few points. Strangely the upper caste champions of merit don't have a problem with management quotas where someone with very low scores can get a seat simply because they can dole out money.

Boy can I relate to not being diagnosed. I was an unbelievably poor student and the school system just kept pushing me through, year after year until I went back to school in my late twenties to get a Paramedic degree, (ended up talking a registered nursing course as no work at that time for paramedics), and all of a sudden I was on the honor list and received a bursary for it.... Amazing what you can accomplish when you're diagnosed properly and WANT to be in school... *: )*

I was diagnosed with ADHD or "hyperactivity" in the early 70s. Dexadrine, Ritalin. Coffee. Uppers slowed me down. With my high IQ I was suppressed in my learning years because the system was broken, not me, no telling where I would be if they could have kept up with me instead of them slowing me down. Now they have nice pigeon hole labels to place children in so they can deal with better.

I am Indian and my dad used to say, if you can pass in 1st attempt, that's all I would be happy with. Where as my mom would say, become and engineer or doctor and if you don't, people are going to put black paint on their face, bcos i was son of a teacher mother. I loved my dad more than my mom, but she was a vision leader in our house. Without her I would never have become an engineer and be absolutely successful in everything I did.
