Considering that MOST of what used to be called Palestine is now part of Jordan, and Syria took the Golan Heights, and Egypt took Gaza, anybody who knew any history would wonder why he'd be talking about the small part of the former "Palestine" that is now Israel.

It's not that the audience was missing out on the "witty lines" it's just that they probably found them funnier the first time they were told, by the original comic. The entire story about his gay friend, and platinum gay blah blah was a joke ripped from Andrew Schulz, who came up with it on the spot during a crowd interaction with a gay heckler.

I'm born in the 2001 but I get what you mean. I go back to watch his old specials because everyone found his jokes funny back then. Even Mizrahi Jews from the Middle Ages (like Maimonides) referred to the area as "Filistine" over "Israel". I'm not making a political argument, I'm just saying that the term "Israel" in reference to the Holy Land only re-emerged centuries later in the 19th century.
