Not to undercut Kerri’s point, but not everyone understands body language. As women we need to get more comfortable verbalizing when we’re uncomfortable in certain scenarios. We can’t expect people to be mind readers. Bc once a woman says “no” or “I’m uncomfortable” or “I want to leave” that’s when everything needs to shut down.

I think as women we need to stop making excuses for other women when they come out years later accusing men of assault or harassment. What we need to do is encourage them to speak up in the moment. If you are in a situation where a man or whoever makes you feel uncomfortable speak up then. If you make me feel uncomfortable I am telling you right then and there. You are not going to violate me, harass me and I don't put a stop to it in the moment. By not speaking up, you are basically saying it is okay. Young women speak up you know when a person is making you feel uncomfortable. It doesn't take years to figure out. It doesn't matter who the person is. I was in a situation at a job where the general manager (I was an assistant manager) started doing things that made me uncomfortable. He would walk pass me and purposely rub up against me, make sexual inuendo comments and the final straw I was in the office writing up a report when he walked in and minutes later opened his pants to fix his shirt. I left the office and reported his ass to the district manager. I had only been with the company less than a month and he had been with the company for years. I didn't care about that. All I want was to get out of there. I was moved immediately to another location. I found out months later that I wasn't the first person he had done that to, but I was the first to actually speak up. Within a month he was let go.

Speaking up immediately is the aim of course. But I can read that you don’t consider there might be trauma response involved - like freezing and adapting to the damage done… Especially when the perpetrator is a friend/lover/aquintance other power dynamics and feelings of loyalty play their part as well… I agree speaking up immediately ís the aim. But if someone needs more time to proceed the trauma response/think it over or whatever makes them need more time, I think we should empathize and support them as well. My point is it has no use to make them feel they SHOULD do it this or that way… ✨🙏🏾 (Speaking from experience)

Can we talk about power dynamics in a male-dominated society? Russell and others are skirting this issue entirely. The culture inhibits women from speaking up because then we are seen as confrontational and there are consequences to that. And Charla, the system is made up of individuals. The system and the culture is people. So yes, individuals do need to face consequences for their actions and be held accountable. That's how change begins.
@helpusall5987

Society is not male-dominated. Black men, Asian men, Hispanic men, Arabic men, and arguably poor to avg white men do not run society. It may have been/ may be old, rich, white, male-dominated but not male-dominated. Feminist always make it sound like America is The Middle East. I have yet to meet a woman who has a problem speaking her opinion. I've seen multiples of women curse out judges, police, city officials, and other people in authority - even when they, themselves, were in the wrong. But when it comes to this topic, for some reason, y'all pretend to not be able to say you don't want to have sex. It's weird. Why do y'all always take this "we can't do anything bc we're oppressed women" approach, but also claim that women are powerful beings who are the guiding hand behind great men at the same time? I respect real victims, but some of these instances, (more than people want to admit) are criminally false.

The culture also makes sure that women who speak up are heard and, more often than not, believed before the accused and the victim ever step into court. Yes, there are people who quickly label alleged sexual abuse victims as money grabbers, "hard to work with", etc. and Yes, there are people/companies who break business deals with alleged abusers. The "culture" is not a monolith but if you are too focused on one media source, it can seem that way.

Those women who made allegations also need to be accountable for being in this industry knowing and trying to get themselves in a better position..and now that they're 40 something years old and failed, all of a sudden is a trauma.

A whole lot of they do know you're uncomfortable though, and act like they can't peep game if you're too scared to say no. Yet, they peep game about EVERYTHING else. They keep going, because that's how they get down. Some men actually don't know, but if someone is stiff, not kissing, back stand offish, no giving you the same energy you fuk'n know.

6:36. NO. Stop with that nonsense. The problem is YOU did not address it at that moment and then LATER want to blame. If you're not comfortable, it should be cool, just say it, and then it won't fester, there will be no questions, and there won't be something 10 years down the road with an evolving story & narrative. Someone that cares about you will want you to be comfortable. Someone that doesn't tells you he/she is the problem, and you need to think HARD about how YOU pick the people you are with. FFS... What she said at 6:36 is an element of the problem. Ok to be direct and say NO. A guy that doesn't respect that, or a woman that doesn't respect that doesn't really respect you IMO.

These ways I am about to describe can easily set a man up to be taken advantage of AFTER THE FACT. To not verbalize something is problematic. To not want to do something then get talked into it and now you do it over and over is problematic. To do foreplay and a women pushes your finger away because she doesn't want to climax before intercourse is another easy way to switch things around after the fact. Even Cassie. Just because she didn't want to leave a club one night doesn't mean she didn't like the sex with a different guy while it was happening. It's hard to believe if she was dry and crying that any man participating wouldn't stop. I assume that almost all these incidents are not this clear cut. If she didn't go to the police that is problematic especially if she keeps doing it time after time. Not going to the police for selfish reasons is problematic. Doing whatever you don't want to do for your own overall benefit is problematic.

The ladies should have elaborated more on what they were saying and Charla/Envy should have pushed back more. Men are not mind readers and you cant assume that we know that you are uncomfortable unless you say something or you make it very obvious like pushing the guy off or getting up.

I always tell my grandson to read the room. I find it really funny how these major players cannot discern when they are aggressive or manipulative when it comes to others. I think that someone that has had all the time in the world to practice meditation and of course he will pass a lie detector test. This is part of his implicit guilt. He ran away to a country that will not expedite him. If he had any faith in his truth or believed in what he’s saying he would be here standing up for his rights.

3:22 Preach bruh. Heads of labels when artists that are told to push content get caught up, gun manufacturers that are never brought up for applying their own regulations after multiple situations that involve the misuse of their products. Yes. We need to zoom out & look at the bigger picture. We’re self centered creatures so it’s difficult. It’s hard when so many contracts are in place. Both unspoken within society & within businesses.

They keep blaming the culture. Culture doesn't exist without people. Who created this disgusting culture in hip-hop towards women? Black men? Rappers? Executives? People like to blame systems yet are the first to perpetuate said system for money and fame.

She said "even if someone doesn't say no, and they come back and say, in that moment, I was uncomfortable...". See, this is where many women actually stand on this topic and honestly, it makes very little sense. How can anyone have sex with anyone else anymore knowing that a person can come back 10-20 years later and say you assualted them? Many of these women seek these men out, at odd hours, in hotel rooms, and know what they are getting into. It's actually their lifestyle. The excuse of being young and naive next to a powerful man is overused to excuse their desire to be with a powerful/well-known man and/or their use of sex to social climb. That goes for the actresses who let hideous men have sex with them so they can get movie roles, deals, and cameos. Then, after they profit from their deeds, they feel dirty and come back with accusations that they were forced. I call bs on some of this. As well, the public automatically assumes that bc groups of women come forward with the same stories, that it must be true. That may be the case in other crimes, but when it comes to rich men and SA, it also makes sense that any woman who slept with him would come forward to capitalize on a possible payday. He slept with so many women, that women who didnt sleep with him could lie about it and he'd have to take their word for it. The same race to the money occurs in almost all class action lawsuits, regardless of the crime. That doesn't make a person guilty in cases like this.

Envy is right. At the moment If you are intimate with a person and at that moment you aren’t comfortable you say no , stop i don’t like that, get off of me etc: you don’t wait until the next day or the next decade you say it right there and then. No or stop if the person continues that is then considered SA

As the mother of a son I do not like that some women assume that men are supposed to be mind readers…we are constantly being told that men & women communicate differently….with that being said women need to be direct about what they want or don’t want and/or are comfortable with or not comfortable with….when you are honest & direct it leaves NO room for misinterpretation. I am also speaking as someone that is very familiar with sexual assault…I truly have empathy for those that have been violated but I do not agree with those that claim to be when they were along for the ride & because things didn’t go the way they wanted after the act want to claim abuse (I believe that is what he was trying to say when he mentioned the way he had spoken to some of the women he encountered)

You can’t prosecute or hold “culture” accountable for its actions. However, culture is created and upheld by individuals that can absolutely be held accountable. Those pillars must be toppled before culture can be changed. Notice Russell didn’t answer the question that was asked. There’s a reason his own daughters don’t rock with him.

I've always said that we men do what other men tell us to get women, and what is successful in getting women. That maybe inadvertenly cross lines and overstep bounds "go for what you want" "Tell her what she wants to hear" and women "You gotta make the first move" etc Guys try things and it can work on some but make other women uncomfortable. Add in money, arrogance, power and you have guys hitting on their employees, stylists etc and the women are afraid to say no #Metoo movement, or the average guys like us trying what works and women get irritated along the way
