Man, regarding Indian doctors, that is so so true. I have a very good Indian friend who has only 2 kids, a son & a daughter. Both are medical doctors and both are married to medical doctors and 1 or 2 of them ( or their spouses) are actually Ph.D. holders in their respective medical fields. Something beyond normal understanding in this world but a very normal occurrence in India.

Stunts, you don't need to kill Russell mate. Why don't you try his job, that too without saying any possible insults, because if you do, there'll be thousands of your friends (Indians) ready to jump on you. So far, I've even seen Muslim people more resilient to comedy, they know how to have a laugh, you all think everything single bloody thing is an insult. I get it that you're a nationalist, make it extreme nationalist, but take it fucking easy.

Alexa Saperstein and how exactly am I lying? With all the doctors I've been too, throughout my life, my Indian doctor was the best. And my surgeon, who was African, was so thorough and methodical, I legit had no complaints concerning either of them. The only reason I stopped seeing my Indian doctor was because he retired and I was forced to go with another doctor. So don't you presume, joking or not, to state my opinion is a lie. Thing about opinions is, they are neither lies or truths, its what makes it an opinion, and my opinion was formed, by my own personal experiences.

This reminds me of when I was young and me and a buddy from my neighborhood wanted to go into the Air Force when we graduated from High School. So we’re telling my parents about our plans to be Jet pilots and be Big Shots. My Dad crushed that idea when he said, “You do realize you get car sick in the back seat”. So we switched to the Navy. Dad repeated “car sick, CAR SICK.....Ships at Sea rock and roll more than a Jet “. End of military discussion.

I live in the UK and I'm so used to the doctors being Indian. One time I took my son to get some cream for his ezcema and the receptionist said "Dr Masih is on holiday, so you'll be seen by a locum". Ok, np, I'm just going to ask for the cream that worked before. I opened the door and the locum was an elderly white man. My immediate reaction was that he must be an imposter! I nearly walked out! Subconsciously I was so expecting him to be an Indian doctor that my initial reaction was "you can't be a doctor - you're white!" Stupid, I know. Anyway, I got a grip on myself and explained what my son needed and all was well. It was just amazing to me that I had that reaction! (I'm white myself, btw). I think Indian people really value education, the top two or three pupils in any class were almost always Indian, and the parents make sure their kids take their education seriously. Most likely they would have to pay a lot of money to get a good education in India or Pakistan, so they really want to make sure their children do their best and take their schoolwork very seriously because they remember how difficult and expensive it was to obtain a good education back in their motherland. Fair play to them!

Fun story! But just would like to point out something, as an Indian living in India. It's not difficult or expensive to get an education here. In fact, those who go to a different country to study actually invest a LOT of money in that than they would if they got educated here, and they are generally quite well-off. They aren't poor or deprived of education. It's just that they have their own other reasons. Some doctors you meet could be second or third generation Indians living there,, some could be studying a particular field that has more scope for research and development there. It's not always about money. Peace out!

My spine surgeon is from India. He's very knowledgeable & actually patented the stuff he used to fuse my spine which has worked well. The bad thing about him is that more than once when I'd go in for a check up or a new problem for some reason he'd forget I was in the room & he'd skip over me & I'd sit & wait for a long time only to leave his office only getting to see his PA. That pissed me off! I was thinking he only wanted to see the patients that needed a procedure done or were there on work comp visits. I moved to another state but if I hadn't I'd be getting another spine doc for my spine problems because I felt he was too dismissive of me.

Also I forgot to mention but we get a intern salary lower than that of a unskilled labour it converts to be less than $4 a day.

Why did you change career choice. You went from the stars to helping sick people. If you did it for any reason besides your new found love and passion for helping humans then you're probably an idiot

@@kevins6732 Oh no no, its because i found my passion and love in medicine. Obviously helping people is also my dream but that's not why I got into medicine originally. Also even now i read physics books, read new published theories , etc . Because now physics is my hobby. I was fascinated by entire branch of Science since I was a kid.

@@Stories-Facts First of all I should get to decide what I want to. Then if were ever to be a space scientist I would prefer ISRO over NASA anyday. However when I have decided to settle over my medical field , there is no way i am get myself educated in India. The Caste System is turn off for me, besides the education provided in Stanford is top in the world behind Harvard, the is no chance of any Indian university that can catch up to even 1% of Stanford standards. There is absolutely NO CHANCE for research in India during MBBS. Students there don't even know how to write a research paper. Corrupt Government back there would rather fill pockets of Nirav modi and his mama and ambanis or spend on unnecessary statues or bullet trains or build Ram Mandir or Masjid or stupid campaign ads than to invest in education. The rich will always get richer in India and poor will always get poorer. I love my India but i absolutely hate the mess its turned into by the corrupt politicians and extreme religious violence.

My favorite doctor ever had a business with his brother hauling away brick debris from construction sites. The brother got hurt, was taken to the main trauma hospital in Atlanta (Grady). When he saw a tall, blond nurse, my man went to med school so he could maybe go out with that nurse taking care of his brother. He became a great doctor and married the nurse...and then gave their kids really strange names. He had a great sense of humor and bedside manner. He saved my life, and I feel blessed to have had his care.

This is true... Lot of Indian kids take up a course to become a doctor only because their parents wanted them to. Most of them never wanted to be a doctor - most never had a choice! Every one of them had to throw away their dreams of being something else only because of cultural stigma. Parents "think" they are wishing only the best for their kids but in reality they only kill their kids from the inside only so that they can show off to their Chacha ke Bete ke Mausere bhai ke Saale ki Bua ki Beti ke Nanad that "my kid is a doctor" - FOR LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE! Kids only obey their parents because they are taught from a tender age that "Parents are Gods" and every fucking wish they have is a divine decree! On this point at least, Indian culture stinks as bad as shit. ----- Confessions of an Indian kid who survived this ordeal years ago.

Simon sez Yumm. So much stuff to correct. Let's dive right in. 1.Parents think that they are well wishers of their children but what they do is kill their dreams. Ans. No. Parents intend for their children to settle. 17 year old guy who never played guitar, wants to become a guitarist. Keyword: Never played it once. Is actually pretty good at academics but is not interested. What do you think he is doing when he says he wants to become a guitarist? He is gambling. 50-50 chance of becoming a good guitarist. 10% chance to become successful. The thing is that, in this scenario,"it's his life which is on stake".Keyword: Life. Surely, you can be optimistic all you want and end up becoming one however, the chances of you not becoming one are way higher. Look from a parent's perspective. (Indian, for arguments sake) Pretty damn good at academics. Chances of becoming a scholar and getting a good livelihood. 90%. Keyword: 90%. Virtually, no gambling as marks are directly prop. To studying. No randomness factor at all. Get it? No parent is intending on getting some kind of special 'respect' from those around them. First and foremost is the living conditions of RT heir child. Respect is an added bonus. What do you think? Parents of spies and other secret intelligence officers are sad as they can't scream about their child? If i actually had to put a blame on someone. I would rather put it on myself not on my parents. Being practical can be harsh, never corrupting. It was my fault at the first place of having an unrealistic dream. Earning money is a necessity anyways. If i cannot even hold my horses until having the necessary preparations, how exactly am i blaming others? Earning money is first and foremost. Chase your dreams all you want later. I could name 10 people right now who were forced to do something else by their parents and still ended up living their dreams. My teacher wanted to be a traveller. Her mother made her a teacher(which she is pretty darn good at!), she became a traveller anyways. She Goes to different countries, regions every year and has a lot of fun. All you need to do is have determination. It's the fault of these children for dropping their dreams. All they needed to do is postpone them. They fail to understand that and you too, my friend. Tell me the name of this guy you got all this 'speech' from. Tell him to earn money and do whatever the hell he wants. No one cares. A typical Indian male parent of a 17 year old is in his late 40s.Due to general health conditions, he knows that he would work at best for another 15 years. When he sees his child taking a gamble at such a point in his life, it craps the living shit out of him. If this 'quitter' guy you talked about held until 22 and created a source of income for himself, his parents would have more than agreed to let him be a gamer if he wants to. You said that Indian children are taught that their parents are like gods. And you talked about how it butthurts you. First of all, learn the reasons behind all of this. First, it makes a child polite. It makes him respect elder and acknowledge experience. There is nothing wrong about this virtue. It's the people who play with it and twist it around. And second of all. Fine, acknowledge your parents as humans. Then remember that these are the humans who gave birth to you, raised you, stayed awake when you were ill and add on the debt of all of that placed on you. And now, on the age of 17 you want to take a gamble? Then, why exactly did they grow you? Where is your payment, sir? If you want a human, you get one. Pay your debts and then do whatever you want. And even this debt is only intended to make you 'rich' and 'popular'. Keyword: You. You talked about how the parents go on to their relatives about their children, and yet you didn't even realize the meaning behind it. All of their life, their children have been living in their shadow as " so and so's son".Now, they get a chance to be "the father of this guy".for first time in their life, they get to be in the audience seats while their child is on the stage. How exactly is it not a moment of celebration? Do you know what actually leads to unfulfilled dreams? Do you? It's the mindset of the person not willing to achiever their dreams after becoming a working adult. Of course, their are countless people who fall into the category you talked about. But, the thing we only talk about them. The extremes. Extremely rich. Extremely poor. Extremely intelligent. Extremely dumb. Extremely forced. Extremely motivated. The majority does not lie in the extremes. Why not collect some actual information and having some actual knowledge before thrashing out on the Internet with information you gathered about these extremes. Trust me, i could write this all day but, the thing is i can't. It takes a hell of a time to write a long comment on a 5 inch phone and so i hope you get what i said and don't make me continue.
