I live in Ukraine, Russia only gained control of the East because of language, in the West, they will speak Ukrainian and Russia will have no collaborators, let Russia mobilise and advance with simple guns. Excellent analysis as always. One thing I want to point out - if Russia can't make up their lost Siberian oil exports in time, their pipelines can freeze, causing permanent damage, possibly a complete loss of some of them.

The complaints about Russia selling oil to China and other nations is not backed by reality. What happens in the market is that these nations when they buy the oil at a discount reduces profits for Russia and at the same time increases international oil supply as these nations do not need to buy from elsewhere, this brings down the price. If Russian oil disappeared then the world would go into crisis as the oil price could even triple destroying the economies of the nations that are supporting Ukraine.

That’s not entirely correct. If Russia sends oil via tanker they can ask any price they like. It’s entirely outside the world market. Currently China and India are paying $30 below the market rates.

Peter Zeihan's latest update video "The Collapse of Empire" provides some interesting food for thought. It's not just Armenia and Azerbijan which are in a conflict because Russia is either "distracted" (to put it most generously) in Ukraine, or perhaps "visibly weakened and overcommitted" (as another way of viewing the situation in Ukraine). A lot of other countries or regions that previously depended on Russia (or the USSR) for security or support are now... out on a limb. This includes Belarus, Transnistria, Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, and others... Zeihan is not saying that any of those other countries are going to collapse or anything within the next few months; but rather that there are definite political and strategic changes in their situation that will affect what happens to them over the next few years...

He's probably referring to his own British tactics. The US ACRs and Troops certainly do fight for information. Though the use of wheeled vehicles to exploit is a Soviet tactic. Regiments of BTRs would flow through holes created by Armored and Mechanized formations. They can take maximum advantage of Europe's road networks to penetrate deep in the rear and collapse logistics. It seems Russia forgot how to fight the Soviet way.
@craigplatel813
@craigplatel813 Жыл бұрын
@@chrishooge3442 not really. The OMG )operational maneuver group was composed of 2 tank divisions and 3-5 motorized infantry divisions. Usually drawn from the second eschelon. It was to exploit gaps caused by the the first eschelon, which were motorized rifle divisions with heavy arty and frontal aviation. Support. The OMG was basically a Soviet tank army. The OMG wasn't any more infantry heavy than the first eschelon. Actually it was more armor heavy. Also with the adoption of the BTR-70/80 and BMP, squad size dropped from about 14 to 7. So as the soviet's added their OMG concept they were reducing the infantry component. Regiment's of BTRs wouldn't have been sent down roads in their own. Even within the OMG they still followed their typical combat formations. Recce, Forward combat element, main body, and reserve.

Dom, the destruction of the Dam at Kryvyi Rih makes some military sense, it flooded the Inhulets River which flows down to the Kherson bridge head and temporarily made it difficult to resupply troops at the initial Ukrainian salient and provide the Russians with some momentary relief.

Also Dom, regarding the attack on Ukraine's electricity infrastructure, Ukraine's rail is instrumental for resupply of materiel and given 45% of Ukraine's rail is electrified, Russia attacking Ukraine's electricity infrastructure also serves a military purpose.

There was a Soviet Era tactic where armored and mechanized forces would create gaps in NATO lines they would then exploit with wheeled formations like BTRs. This would allow the Soviets to deeply penetrate behind NATO forces utilizing their road networks. Those are infantry heavy formations that can then seize key terrain, disrupt/seize logistics, and seize airfields. Basically, what the Ukrainians did to the Russians.

Yes, the river that runs through Zelenskyy's unpronouncable birthplace is the Inhulets -- the very same Inhulets river that Ukrainian troops (mostly) have to cross to support their advance to Kherson. I don't want to belittle Russian actions in this war, infact the whole war is a war crime. But by Russian standards the attack on the damn dam was one of more "reasonable" ones...

China already paid Putin long ago to upgrade the pipeline to China but Putin did a poor job of doing it and China is mad about it coz lots of time and money wasted already. Best for the west that China CCP gives Putin China warmaments so we can judge how good or overhyped they are just like Russia arms are found to be not that good and only great in theory or in paper. China already committed to buy 30 million barrels of oil from Russia payable in rubles and China itself is facing lots of economic problems plus other financial issues in re banks and real estate companies, so most likely China will just stay neutral at best coz if it looks like helping Putin to the west China itself may face sanctions which is the last thing it needs as Xi fights for dear political life at the CCP national congress this Fall 2022. I think and hope these two evil totalitarian regimes must be isolated by the west completely so they both are destroyed fully for the sake of world peace and human progress plus to end the bribery and blackmail of traitors in the free world who sell out their countries to these wicked tyrannical criminals against humanity. We need to root out and hang those weaklings and crooked traitors in the free world immediately so we can rid the western world of this growing social and moral cancer

I don't think I've ever heard of "President Ksee" before. Some people pronounce his name as "she", and some people get the Chinese phoneme transliterated as X correct, or at least try to. It sounds like a kind-of-odd sh sound. The Chinese class I took was many years ago, so I can't say it right anymore. But it's certainly a sound that would get anglicized as sh, not as ks. It's odd to hear talk of Russia becoming a junior partner in its relationship with China. China is a superpower, and has been for quite some time. Russia is a gas station that used to be the core of an empire. It's not even really a country. To qualify as any kind of partner of China, Russia would have to do a whole lot of winning, not suffer humiliating losses.

“An initiative, called “Digital4Freedom” was presented by Ukraine’s Deputy PM and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov in Switzerland. Fedorov is described as long-time friend of President Volodymyr Zelensky and a fellow enthusiast in ushering it ever greater levels of digitalization. The initiative appears very ambitious, and optimistic: it is to make Ukraine “the most digital state in the world,” and that has been the pitch made to the audience in Lugano, who were asked to contribute funds and cooperate on forging a “digital Marshall plan” for Ukraine. The general promise is that in the future, the Ukrainian government and Big Tech will be “closely interlinked,” while turning the country into “a European Israel.” 6uild 6ack 6etter
