Russia's investigative committee said Sunday that it had confirmed via genetic testing that Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin died in a plane crash. Fiona Hill, the former senior director for European and Russian affairs on the National Security Council during the Trump administration, tells "Face the Nation" the plane crash was "so dramatic" that "one has to ask whether this was done for the demonstrative effect of it."

@rambleon2838
@rambleon2838 8 ай бұрын
@@theskyehiker I've watched many interviews since she was thrown into the lamp light during the first impeachment. She has not brought anything new to the table I haven't already heard. Since she hasn't been working within the government for years now, I highly doubt she has the latest intel on the current Russian affairs. Who actually really has? We've been watching and speculating based on propaganda the Kremlin has been releasing. There has been no transparency and insight in that plane crash. A plane crash in the west would take years of investigation to come to a conclusion. The Russians did it in less than a week - and the conclusion is that the west or Ukraine downed the plane. And it always happens to be so that somebody on the ground was at the perfect location with a camera to provide one piece of evidence to the puzzle that it must be true. Pregozhin could have traded his soon to be cold field tent in Belarus for a mud hut somewhere deep inside of Africa while he's getting his identity reworked, afaik. Wasn't he supposed to be exiled to Belarus and never return to Moscow again? Face the Nation gave an informal eulogy to an international war criminal, which both failed to remind it's viewers, and spent more time talking about him in this interview than Russian RT has done the entire last week. As far as I know, there has been nobody in the west who was able to interview Prigozhin once. Therefore, we know very little about that criminal, except he has a lot of blood on his hands. I recommend watching the PBS Frontline series, Putin and the Presidents, Ep. One, to get an idea why we are where we are, today, regarding Russia. What good do the brightest minds working behind the scenes, in foreign diplomacy and in the intel community if an egomaniac leader refuse to take their advise, brush it off or misjudges the situation all together.

As an old "spook" from the 1970s, I'm always surprised that one man (Putin) has been successful at re-establishing Soviet Cold War autocracy within the bounds of a supposedly democratic state. Admittedly, he didn't accomplish the metamorphosis overnight. But having watched Brezhnev evolve into Gorbachev, then regress back into Yeltsin and finally Putin makes me shake my head in amazement. We can't take anything for granted anymore. Democracy doesn't "always win."

Can I suggest an esoteric book "Life In The Universe" ? It echoes and supports your statement that nations either proceed down the (often messy) path of supporting and enabling personal freedoms which culminates in a democratic society (in some form). The other path (easier in some ways) is in which individual liberties are curtailed and subservient to the needs of the state/nation. We see this playing out very clearly in our nations here on Earth. 🙏

If this was not an accident, it was certainty not Putin’s style. He could have taken out Progozhin any time in a much neater way. He didnt need to bring a plane down, especially while the BRICS conference was on. It could have been one of many who wanted him gone.

Hill worked in other White House administrations. With her expertise she could do so again, perhaps at the State Dept. Women like her are few and far between, especially on visually dominant TV. It does appear that the CBS makeup department has had her in the chair before this all too short appearance…the intelligent bits are getting shorter and shorter and much fewer between the rest of the dog and pony advertisements designed to distract and erase anything as meaningful as a Fiona Hill. As the poet Wordsworth wrote while standing on a bridge over the Thames, “The world is too much with us buying and selling”. That was a concise critique of 19th century capitalism and is even more apropos today. As I’ve written before, from the perspective of any advanced civilizations that might take a quick look at what passes as civilization on this remote mostly water-world, the humans seem eager to consume this planet like termites devouring the only home they have.

Oh bull. That was a sick airplane, in the airplane hospital for routine examinations. It got bored, walked over to the window of the 47th floor private room, and trippedon apoorly placed tripping thing right in front of the window, and fell to its death in fire, airplane parts, and out of favor mass murderers, and left Yegvevefenfy Prighdegoofkin quite flat, disassembled, and very disappointed. That's life.....and death, in the Russian medical system.

Russian comes home after a fishing trip and hears the news that Russia is at war. He asks another Russian what is going on and he tells him: "I think we are at war with NATO!" "Oh wow, how many troops have been lost?" "Well, we have lost 120K troops, almost 4000 tanks, a thousand artillery pieces, several hundred helicopters and aircraft, several generals have been killed, our economy is in shambles and the Moskva was sunk." "And NATO?" "NATO hasn't showed up yet."

Although Prighozin criticized the Russian military leadership he was also criticizing Putin as well since Putin was in charge of the military. Also Putin was diminished by Prighozin so Putin had to show who was boss.

One important clarification: Prigozhin was not the owner of Wagner PMC, he was not a strategist or tactician. His role in PMC Wagner was comparable to that of a company face or press secretary. Experts, as always, do not understand what nonsense they say for the audience.

I have great respect for Dr. Hill and her insights on Russia and its leadership. When I learned of the death several days ago of the Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin in a plane crash in Northern Russia, I instantly suspected that Putin may have had a hand in that crash. After all, when Prigozhin staged that minor uprising in Southern Russia 2 months ago, taking control of the city of Rostov-on-the-Don with a large military force and then withdrawing, he embarrassed Putin internationally. Putin is someone with very thin skin who has a reptilian temperament. I figured that there would be some payback for Prigozhin for stepping out of line. After all, in the 22 years Putin has been Russia’s de facto Führer, he had made it a point to neutralize or eliminate anyone perceived as a threat to his authority - be he/she a journalist or opposition political leader --- in the most swift, cruel way. If Prigozhin had any real sense, he would’ve have some sort of escape or exit plan, go to some place like Dubai, the UAE, or the Cayman Islands, and lay low for a while with some encrypted bank accounts from which he could withdraw money for whatever he may have needed to sustain a comfortable lifestyle. DUMB-DUMB-DUMB.

What gets lost in the killing of Prigozhin is the 'collateral' damage of the pilots and attendants. Were they Wagner employees, were they involved in military operations? The extreme and casual violence often hides the callous disregard for any human life that Putin demonstrates.
