Are you going to do any rigging on this model? And I'm guessing you are using just pictures for reference? For my Cinema 4D "Dalek" I managed to get hold of a copy of the original plans for making them by the BBC so it was accurate to 1mm. I also used it as my first attempt at rigging, all the moving parts can be animated and I wrote some code for the eye and gun to always target a specific invisible object anywhere in the scene to. Finally I wrote some code to synch the flashing of the "dome lights" to any sound file, as demonstrated in the test videos on my channel here.
