Russia was getting a good thrashing from a country 1 20th it's size for 700 days straight. Russian not only is bigger but had a 1000 times more weapons. The only reason Russia has the upper hand is Ukraine has no ammo or weapons . Russia still has only 18% of Ukraine and they already had most of that from 10 years ago. Russia can't even beat Ukraine. Completely kicked the hell out of the USSR killing over 50 thousand USSR soldiers forcing them to flee. 250 thousand Russians couldn't take Afghanistan over a period of years. 2500 US soldiers took the country in a month and they held it for 20 years before they decided to go home. Big difference.
