Learning about Russian money is a great opportunity to learn more about Russian geography! Not only because with it you can buy tickets and travel, but because Russian cities are depicted on the bills themselves! So, in this video I will show you Russian banknotes and tell about the cities and landmarks that are show on them. I will also tell you about the history of Russian ruble and kopek, and teach you how to pronounce the banknote values.
[!] Edit: Many people are asking if I still teach Russian, but, unfortunately, I don't teach anymore because I decided to pay more attention to making videos.
About myself My name is Natasha, I live in the Far East of Russia in the city of Khabarovsk, but originally I'm from a small town Spassk-Dalny. Currently I'm studying Linguistics in a university in Khabarovsk. I like languages and learning about different cultures. On this channel I'm making videos about life in Russia, our traditions and my traveling in Russian cities. Subscribe to my channel, and let's explore Russia together!

Krasnojarsk building a monument for their discontinued banknote is a lovely story! The notes are beautiful! Just before the introduction of the Euro Germany had redesigned its notes. They had a nice design AND they had a theme of women who played an important role in German history. Many regretted that had to be discarded for the new Euro notes.

It's so incredible how you're able to make these videos to show what life is like in Eastern Russia, and others all over the world can see it, and tell you how they live there. When I was a kid, I imagined what it was like in these other countries, but the internet didn't exist until I was like 16-17, so I wish so much that I could have done things like this. The best we had back then was something called "pen pals" where you would be connected with someone in another country, usually through school, and you would write letters to each other. Yes, real paper letters. It would take FOREVER to receive their letter and for them to receive yours. And you can imagine how frustrating that was. You grew up with the internet, and this all is probably really normal for you and maybe take it a little for granted, but I'm old enough to remember when I wished I could, but never imagined this would be possible. We live in amazing times.

Nicely produced video. I really like how you insert lots of images and words to accompany your lessons. Even the best companies in the video production industry, couldn't do any better, so you should be extremely proud at your videos and the attention you give to accuracy, detail, realistic delivery, settings and a clearly understood speaking voice. I'm glad you aren't wasting any time, but going straight towards new ideas and goals. Think big, because you have the best degree one could hope to have. As the old sayings go, "the world is your oyster" and "the sky is the limit." Be blessed.

@@NatashasAdventures It might be same origin. In Finland under swedish leadership, we had also money called plootu what was literally 20 kilos of copper ''coin''. And money it was with with legal markings. Not hard to think thats cutted size that needed when you need ''smaller money''. And cutting pieces of coins goes even longer, there is roman age cutted gold and silver coins found here in finland as of course other places.

@@riippumatonlinja They actually are from the same origin. Russian/Eastern Slavic and Indian (Sanskrit, to be more precise) are derived from the old Indo-European language spoken in the Pontic Steppe region around 3000-4000BC. Nearly all other European languages are derived from the same language as well. Iranian and its related languages are also from the same origin. There are exceptions, Finnish, for example. The languages of the Baltic states are another, although Latvian and Lithuanian borrowed from their close neighbours in old Poland, Ukraine, Russia and the old German states. Basque is another. I believe Etruscan may also be another exception to the Indo-European rule. Hungarian is another. There are a number of others I can't remember, off hand.

Thank for this interesting video. I collect coins and banknotes of several countries, although most of my Russian notes and coins are from the Soviet era (along with a few pre-Soviet issues). My most modern banknote is a 1997 10 ruble, which from what you said is basically obsolete. A few of my coins are post-2000 so still "current". // When my father was a child in central Pennsylvania, he found a large copper coin in his backyard, dated 1765--this turned out to be a Russian 2 kopek coin, which of course is now part of my collection.

And people massively voted for Vladivostok because of the popular song called 'Vladivostok 2000' by the band Mummyi-troll which came out in mid-90's
