I am not sure if Russia wishes to attack Ukrainian gas pipelines. If they did so, then of course Ukraine would take out Russian pipelines in Russia too, and I don't think that Russians would be too happy about that. In Ukraine, winters can be as cold as -20oC. In Russia it can be -50oC.
