The KORD seems to fire much smoother than the DshK Machine Gun. One of the reasons why I love Larry is because he respects people and their methods from around the world. A quality many people lack nowadays.

Of course it seems to fire much smoother. The DShK was adopted in 1938, the KORD - in 1998.
@Spartan0437 жыл бұрын
We don't have anything like the Kord in America. The XM312 was canceled, the XM806 was canceled, and they are both overly-complicated, expensive to produce, and have a very low rate of fire. The Kord might just be the finest HMG ever made. Simple, reliable, accurate, high firepower, and light weight (90 pounds w/ tripod compared to M2 w/ tripod at 127 pounds). It's almost scary how good it is. The only real concerns with a platform like this are barrel wear and fire discipline. The shooter must exercise good burst control to avoid overheating and damage to the barrel.

Soviet Union developed a new heavy machine gun to replace DSHK (It's the NSV). But when Soviet fell down, Russia didn't have the license to product NSV so they developed new heavy machine gun

Great vid LAV! Lot of people saying the design is overly complex, guess they missed the bit about it fitting into multiple roles. The cable charging and forward ejection are part of what makes it usable as a coax gun. There are a few vids of the Kord with optics mounted and it is truly impressive in its ability to keep rounds on target at longer ranges, not suprised that you picked up on that use right away. Again outstanding vid!
@tankolad9 жыл бұрын
Guns like this aren't usually used as co-axials. They aren't useful.
@jamesbridges77509 жыл бұрын
An Everyman if you look up the model number 6p51 that is the specific coax version, russians have different ideas apparently.
@tankolad9 жыл бұрын
James Bridges That's the 6P49 you're talking about. No, it was never fielded.
@jamesbridges77509 жыл бұрын
The info I have says the 6p51 is the left feed forward ejecting with coaxial mounting, fielded or not that was the reasoning for the cable charging and forward ejection. The design is multirole from the begining,not modified to fit roles later.
@tankolad9 жыл бұрын
James Bridges Hmm, then it seems that both the 6P49 and 6P51 can be used in tanks. It is quite possible that the 6P51 is used on tanks where the tank gun is to the right of the coaxial. It's true though, that the Kord has never been used as a co-axial, only as a top-mounted gun.

I cant find the picture that shows both sides of the bolt, by the looks of the left side it should be 6 lugs per row, but (maybe i dreamt it...) i think that i saw a picture with 1 more row on the right side. Anyway, multi lug bolt probably means that it doesnt have primary extraction, like ak/pk does. Forward extraction is also not present on pk.
