So sorry your biased feelings got hurt, yet I've 50 years of chess experience. Since the videos don't appear to be doctored, why has Mike "mishandled" pieces in 6+ videoed matches that resulted in wins, when otherwise he loses, based on post match discussion? Hint: l o g i c

If he's the strongest in NYC, then that's sad. Because he missed a double rook fork with the knight at 5:20, and honestly made many other mistakes. Including Nd7 at 7:20. This is a super obvious move. Fork the queen and king, forcing the rook to take, then you take his rook on e8, forking the bishop and king...

I thought I was a genius because I "found" d4 there so I can still take the queen instead of his choice of Nxe5, only to check the engine and realize I'm nowhere near these guys. The speed at which they calculate these moves is insane.

Who won? My biggest peeve about chess matches is they always end them before a checkmate or stalemate. Either one resigns or they end it when they both realize the end is inevitable.

Nemo ran out of time, and so Paul won. Look at the clock in the background.
@tomaf
@tomaf Жыл бұрын
@@mkb5743 - OK, I didn't notice that, but he would have won anyway at this point. He could take her bishop with his queen and then there is no way she could stop his pawn from becoming a queen, except maybe with that rook in the lower right corner, but then he could take her rook, leaving her much weaker. (Oops, no, his bishop would take her rook, unless she took the bishop first, and then moved her rook on the next turn, but again she would lose her. ) Another chess peeve of mine is the short time limits. Of course you need time limits so a game does not last for hours, but it should be longer than 5 minutes each. I think 10 min each would be much better. It would be an interesting endgame.
