@@09lowkey no faction here can be called the good side but Tsurumi and his group clearly are in the other side of that line, but one of the coolest aspects of the series is that is mostly a fire vs fire, poison vs poison kind of conflict.

@@g.sergiusfidenas6650 I’m aware, that’s why I said thin line. No real ‘good guy vs. bad guy’ here only one motive vs. another. I mean, the majority of the main characters are convicts or war criminals. Only Asripa is clean, and the closer she gets to the secret, the more conflicted she becomes. The realism is astounding.

He basically flat out states he intended to groom his daughter into becoming a rebel like him and Kiroranke, but with Asirpa’s kind and pure nature I doubt he believed he could do it, especially when he became Noppera-Bou. Kiroranke, in his stead, sought to complete the radicalization process himself, but Sugimoto would have none of it

Plot revolves around ethnic minority groups of the area and their cultures, a hidden treasure, assassination, war mongers, etc. Action, adventure, humor, historical and cultural references, plot twists, it has it all. Highly recommended

Hey, could you mark this as spoiler or something? A lot of these videos get a lot of their views from folks who may not have seen the show & that's a pretty big twist to ruin for people who may want to check it out.

The first, most primitive tanks are a solid decade away (and in Eastern Europe, including Russia, horse-mounted cavalry would be the norm for another decade-plus after that). Air travel doesn't meaningfully exist (powered flight is at most a couple of years old), automobiles have been around for about a decade but are expensive, fragile, and not nearly capable enough (not to mention a fair amount of that road infrastructure is spotty even today, nevermind a century ago), and the Trans-Siberian Railroad can get you from Moscow to Vladivostok but even today that's a several day trip. That buys that trio a three day head start to not be at their last-known position (assuming the secret police find out that same day). If your goal is to not be found, or to get out of Russia, in an era where tight border security isn't really a thing for the most part, 3+ days to get from Vladivostok to Japan, China, or even a good head start towards Alaska is substantial.

Голубоглазый - один из тех, кто кидал бомбу в Александра II. Но кгб пришло не за ним, а за тем хреном с фотоаппаратом-пулемётом, он был японским шпионом незадолго до русско-японской. В целом в аниме к русским отношение примерно такое же, как к японцам: есть хорошие ребята, есть не очень.

You shoud absolutely. It is truly unique compared to the vast majority of anime series these days as it blends historical, drama, action, mystery and comedy elements flawlessly. It really is the perfect jack of all trades in my opinion. Furthermore, the characters are well written and endearing. In short, go watch it !

Is like an Spaghetti Western but with the aftermath of the Ruso Japanese War of early XX century as background, various factions are in the search for hidden gold; this seen here is a flashback set before said war.

@@09lowkey in a time of painfully repetitive and generic stories Golden Kamuy's originality gives the series plenty of extra point just by contrast alone but it goes beyond that, the animation while not its strongest point is decent (CGI bears aside), the action is good, the characters are unique and interesting and the background in which the story takes place is a cool mix of history and fiction; the series has so many things working in its favor, I am glad that more people seem to be watching it now, it is a gem that deserves to be seen for sure.

Tsurumi wasn’t involved in the firefight itself. Either Sonia accidentally shot at her on instinct, or it was from the machine gun Kiroranke was using. Also he told her to take their kid and run. He knew trouble was coming, and he explicitly wanted them out of harm’s way.

After the Ruso Japanese War, there are some flashbacks of actions in it like the Battle of 203 Hill during the Siege of Port Arthur but the bulk of the story takes place after the end of it.
