Stefan is right, it is definitely an NLAW. At the 4 second mark paused you get a great view of it and it is distinctively an NLAW

It's a NLAW for sure not RPG7. If you set the video speed to x0.25 and look at the 0:04 you can see the NLAW projectile. It's a missed shot btw.

As many said its NLAW. Any portable rocket propelled launcher has arming distance to keep operator safe from shrapnel, for NLAW the effective range is between 20-800m so we can assume 20 meters is the arming distance. Therefore nothing detonated, little fire was due to projectile hitting the tank armor at high speed. If he was slightly further away, that would have been one of the most gruesome video.

Was to close, if the tank was further away, the secondary detonation would of destroyed that tank. That’s my hypothesis, I could be wrong but it does make sense about the distance the rocket needs to travel, before the impact.

To those wondering why it failed, it is too close as the arming distance is usually 10+meters and it will not arm reliably if you were to shoot it too close

At an average of 25,000 USD and up to 40,000 USD (depending on the country that manufactures it) the NLAW is one of the best and most effective anti-tank and anti-material weapons on the planet. It can attack from any angle, penetrate up to 500mm (20 inches) of steel and even airburst over the thinner top of armored vehicles with a smaller shaped charge. And as you can clearly see from the video should you pause it, this is a NLAW. The warhead is clearly visible after being fired from the tube the instant before its built motor engages. Now, you might be wondering why such a modern and highly advanced weapon failed to do anything. Well that's because the idiot who fired it ignored the 20 meter (21 yards or 63 feet) minimum arming distance. That tank is at best 10 meters (10 yards or 30 feet) away. That man wasted a very precious weapon for zero gain. This is why training on the weapon systems you plan to use is so important. Had he waited another minute for greater distance he would have a confirmed tank kill under his belt. Instead that man wasted someone's tax dollars and might even have gotten himself and his men killed with his failed attack. Don't be like this guy. Read the very clearly printed instructions on your weapon systems and take heed.

To calculate the distance from the camera to the tank we can use pythagorean's theorem, we first need the length of half the street (since the tank is in the middle), and the height of the building. The camera appears to be 3 stories up, in comparison to across the street. the average 3 story building is 10 metres to 12m, we will average this to 11m. The Street and pavement looks to be about 4 T-72s, a search shows the T-72 to be atleast 3.5 metres wide without skirts, so (3.5*4), divide by 2 to get the horizontal distance to the tank, gets 14m From here we can substitute into the pythagorean formula: C^2 = 11^2 plus 14^2 Therefore C^2 = 317, the distance from camera-tank = C which is the same as sqrt of 317, or 17.8 metres.

It was an NLAW, but the projectile didn't fly far enough to arm itself. The projectile must fly about 20m in order to arm itself. Basically they just made a loud thud on the back of the tank.

nope, usually it is HEAT round, thats a primary round for RPG-7 guys. There is a HE-FRAG but it is very rarely used.
