In this class we will study Future tense in Russian! It turns out that in Russian there two forms of Future - simple and compound and in this class you will find put when to use which. At the end there will be an exercise for you to do!

How do i Know with prefix to add to an infinitive imperfective verb to make it future? In here говорить turns into поговорить by adding по. Is there a list or a guide for the rest of the verbs? thanks

So question: how do you tell when it's future tense if you're using present endings? Is it the prefix по? I was under the impression that just meant you "had" done something as opposed to just doing it while in past tense in the first example. Спасибо!

If the verb is perfective, then it is future. The question is how to determine whether the verb is perfective or not - well, sometimes you need to remember, and sometimes the prefixes help ;) The lesson about perfective and imperfective - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMp8qqmqnpisdqc.html

a stem is the unchangeable part of the word group, in other words a stem is a form to which affixes can be attached

Lazy mans question........can we get away with using the present to express future in Russian? In Spanish, we do this. Using future tenses in Spanish sounds forced and unnatural. Very rarely used. To express future, we use the present, for example, "Im going tomorrow", 'shes there next week" "I do it tomorrow"

Just saying, as a little bit of english help, the word is COMpound, not comPOUND. The stress is on the first syllable. Also, it's continUous, not continus.

that is true when you use it as a noun but also note if you want to compound something i.e. use it as a verb it has stress on the second syllable.
