Eggs are very cheap in Russia. It would be rare to find them over $1 or 100 rubles in almost any store you go to in Russia. Of course, there are fancier brands that are more expensive.

This is really interesting to know. I have just purchased 1/4 acre in rural Australia, only just over an hour away from two major regional cities, an hour and a half from another major regional city and many small and large towns within the same distance. However, there is only one small supermarket chain that services the nearest towns about 1/2 an hour away, that has higher prices than the two major supermarkets (there is no supermarket or fuel, etc in my village). The two major supermarkets have no physical presence in the area at all. Only one of the supermarkets does deliveries to my village as well. We don't even have street delivery of mail and have to collect it from the post office! I was really surprised at the lack of services that we have, even though we aren't that far from civilisation. Interesting to hear that deep in Siberia has better grocery supplies!

Today I’ve decided to make a salad using some of them: Chinese cabbage, eggs, cherry tomatoes, (black) olives, mozzarella, cucumbers all chopped and sprinkled with salt, pepper and olive oil. All of these different stores compete with each other for business, with so many choices of stores so close together. But the average beer taste is decent, not good not terrible. On some very rare occasions I found Faxe Premium Vikings Edition and that thing tastes amazing! But usually it's local brands and a few international ones. The local ones are cheaper and better imo.

Yesterday we bought 30 small eggs, 2l of sunflower oil, 2 400g bread, 2 small pastries, and 400g of smoked pork meat, and that was about 14USD. And I live in a provincial small city in Eastern Europe and our prices are cheaper compared with the rest of the country especially the big cities, and our country has very very cheap prices compared with EU and especially the West. To be honest right now we spend about 12$ per day for the basic food, nothing extra. But here comes the big issue. Since the "sanctions" our bills got insane. This month's heating bill (we barely started the heat) was 70USD! Again, no winter, barely touching the heating. I am afraid our winter bill will reach 200USD! And that will be on top of the rest, like power bills and so on. And the wages here are not that big! A lot of people won't have enough money to pay the bills and the food and medicine and everything. Yeah... it's bad. Really bad.

Anyone can film an employee of any organization while in a public place. Although, one can’t publish a video without the consent of the manager you filmed, but the recording can always be used in court.

It's not an issue of sanctions, it's more of your own country's red tape and taxes are causing prices to be much higher. And generally speaking the more red tape there is, the more it favours bigger corporations who can afford accountants and lawyers to navigate it.

So I walked in a store, take some wine and cheese and then they asked me about my age... In the end I asked the cashier to keep the goods on her deck, went to my lady's place and returned back with her. "Miss, can you please buy that for me?". While leaving the store we all laughed at loud, me, my lady and the cashier alike. Reminded of old school days.

А сколько маленьких магазинов, хлебный, молочных, мясной, фруктовый, кондитерской та.... Продукты у нас натуральные, вкусные, поэтому у нас нет таких жирных людей как в США.

That's more of a british problem than anything else. I live in a western country myself with a fairly liberal culture and i can go to my local store and buy all sorts of spirits. Even entire shipping boxes if i want to. No radio tags, no special cabinet. Simply take it and walk to the register.

In Russia we have security tags, but this only applies to elite alcohol, which is also kept in a separate cabinet.

There are many video cameras in Russia, and most stores have a security service. Tags and plastic boxes are only placed on expensive alcohol. They are mainly installed on something small and in demand, such as razors. In Russia they also steal from our supermarkets. Or expensive alcohol is paid for immediately at a separate cash register inside the store.

Right, I was in Ufa Region during summer, and went to a local 5ka store. It was no difference from a store in Moscow. Even though its so many thousands of km's from Moscow.

Так вот, мы не нашли там ржаной хлеб, хотели взять для бутербродов в дорогу и не нашли вообще. Есть булочки, какой-то другой хлеб, лепешки, но не ржаной хлеб. Я не придираюсь, но было неожиданно.

I think Russia needs to open up its economy more so ordinary russians can start companies and what not. Because it does not seem right that people who dont even live in Russia is able to run a sucessful company there? There must be alot of red tape in order to earn money and start a company in russia

@@fergus247 The only problem is money and concurence. Many Russians start their own little bussineses, but they have no chance against big chains and western brands. For example before sanctions I baught for my cats Monge and Hills food, only lately I found out that there are plenty of good premium class cat's food made in Russia, but these russian brands are not displeyed at petshops they can be baught only through internet even now, so many don't even know about their existans. The same with toothpastes and gels for tooths and many other russian products. Now with the help of sanctions many western companies have gone, but nobody knows for how long the sanctions will stay. It is possible that they will be lifted after 2-5 years and all new russian start-ups will lose their cliens, so many are hesitant to start.

I loved Yarche! so much, there was very delicious chicken. But then I moved into another part of Moscow, since that time I haven't seen Yarche! in Moscow. I guess it is very diffucult to compete with Vkusvill 😅

Of course, it is not fair to compare what you'd find in a rural, sparsely populated area with what you'd find in a more densely populated area. Here in Florida we have grocery stores every couple miles that make the Russian one in the video look like a mini mart.

Even if you travel two hours to a large city, the stores there are not stocked either. I have saw a steady decline here in stores and their stock.some areas might have plenty of stores, but for our size we do not.

That guy was the in-store security. He did ask me if he could be in the video actually. The store manager was actually a lady. She was briefly in one part where she pushes a shopping basket by to fill one of the shelves.

Мне, не так критично, я хорошо зарабатываю. Но кому-то, думаю, это критично. Это я про цены. Так мне в Алма-Ате хорошо.

Prices for alcoholic bevs are tough to judge as every country has an own taxation policy with sometimes 60-70% of the price tag being taxes. That gives vastly different prices in different countries.
