Great video. Now I know what the Soviets had rolled up around their shoulders all the time. I have collected a uniform, hat, & belt. I find it fascinating that they used virtually the same style until well into the 1980's. Thanks for a look at an often overlooked part of history.

thank you very much for the info :) i try to reenact a soldier from the period 1943 - 45. i know my canteen are post war. the original one are not painted as far as i know? i have a book about the russian soldier during ww2 and i hope to lean a lot more:) it is good to hear form people who knows more about it than i do yet :) thanks

hi i am from Denmark. i know the pouches are post war production and i would love to have some like those used during the war. my uniform is from schuster.ru i have made all the grenades my self. they are made of wood. are you from fronthistorisk föreningen ?

Nice looking gear, im a red army reenactor from sweden. The only thing i have to comment one is the ammo pouches, they where produced after the war and never used by the red army. Check out schuster.ru, he makes the best repros on the market and has some awesome pouches in leather. Also, where did you get your F1(pineapple) grenades? Good look with the hobby!!

I have a hungarian version of the SSh-40 (M70), can that be used too for reenactments? And my pants are cold war ones but they look fairly similar to the ww2 ones edit: I got the ww2 stuff now

ja nu fik jeg endelig lavet en film :) nu havde jeg udstyret fremme da jeg lige havde været ude og gå med det;) jeg tror også at de kan have brugt tæpper eller telt flager. men jeg var lige så overrasket over at det var frakken de havde over :P man skal også lige lære at folde den rigtig før at den sidder ordentligt:)

I would say at the most around $600 which compared to any other reenacting you get is by far the cheapest(The average civil war price is around $1500).The main reason why is the average gun for the soldier(The mosin naget) is one of the cheapest guns you can get, averaged around $120, which is less than most paintball and airsoft guns.

The standard loadout for the common Soviet field trooper was 8 clips of 5 rounds for the Standard Issue Mosin Nagant ( two pocket rifle cartridge pouches were worn on either side of the waist belt, holding 20 rounds each - 5 X 4 ). In some cases a cloth bandolier could be issued for front action which could hold up to 14 more clips. This 'add on' was called the "byokomplekt", or "full complement" of ammunition. So a Soviet soldier kitted out with a Byokomplekt would hold a grand total of 110 rounds.
