* NEWS: Facepunch changed vending machines to drop half their loot when destroyed. Sad but true. No worries, still good.
You can of course use a door with the double-vending-machine trick, but it will always take splash damage regardless of attack angle. Sorry I didn't show it in the video, it was a 3am one-take
Cool and somewhat OP tricks you could do with vending machines, harkening back to the old "tc behind vending" trick, although these in specific I've never seen anywhere else.

One can also swap with a window frame to fit three vending machines. (Stand on a furnace to place vending machines inside windowed pods)

Thanks :) It's different from video to video. Some of them are scripted and heavily edited (the base builds). This one is just a one take done at 3am when high on sleep deprivation and just discovered something funny :)

Reminds me of DavDav building’s vending machine unlootables. Similar concept, although I think some variations are also unsplashable. Plus you can flip the vending machine to close off the room behind.

Make the door face the other way, and then place the vending machine. You can open and close the door, and access everything inside. It's a bit trickier to place but leads to more space in the base :)

Hey man I was wondering if you could maybe do a in depth video on wide gaps things like how to design your own wide gaps, how to connect them to multi tc parts, and how to make double wide gaps and so on. Im on console and have been trying to add them to my bases but am having trouble properly implementing them.

finally someone else to realise this. Davdav building is using the unlootable vending machine for long time. there are even methods to hide 3 boxes in a double triangle or 4 boxes is an square. suicide bunkers suck.

With some of the non-vending machine ones, if you place them right, the vending machine will be on both foundations, AND there's a door :)

@@xSanteri Ah, I thought he meant to softside the foundation :) but yeah, there's a door behind it too, so it doesn't actually matter :) first you have to know this is possible, then you have to be aware of it being there, then you waste a bunch of jackhammers and your sanity running and refilling a million times, and then get rid of an armored door, all on basically a bet that there's something worthwhile behind it. I'm completely good with that. That shit is going into every one of my bases now.

AWESOME, now I really wanna try design a base with that tc thing. I loooove your content man. Every single builder in rusts builds these really stupid expensive massive 12 hour upkeep with full tc bases… i really like designing a really cheap base for like 7 day upkeep so i can not play for a few days if i like, and I just love your style with that

@@GameLightz You can use an HBHF sensor set to trigger on unauthorized players, once it detects someone it'll activate a switch pump that doesn't turn off unless you reset a smart switch via the rust+ app. That only way it can be deactivated is by destroying the water storage/pump, cutting the power, or waiting for all the water to drain out of the system (Which would take a little under 3 hours)

I've been using this to protect TC for quite a while now, from my testing it's almost always 1 less rocket then HQ wall with splashing being very unreliable, it just sometimes bugs out and you can't access the TC because it gets blocked by the turn vending machine interaction, haven't found out how to get around it, seems completely random but it isn't permanent, so as long as you make sure to not store critical materials that you might need on short notice in the TC (or hidden loot), you should be fine

It's not random, you just have to know exactly where to place the TC. a good rule of thumb is close to the door and to the right. If you place it slightly turned, u can also access the lock. If you place it on a metal triangle, you can count the little dots, and if you place it on the 3rd row of dots, it'll work every time, too :)

There is a command (can't remember which one) that changes the view hitbox number. Set it to 0.1 and you should have a much easier time. Just make a hotkey so you can switch between them.

On the double vending machine, I'm struggling to get the second vending machine to place properly, and you can see the second vending machine from one of the two sides. Any advice on to make this "foolproof" like you said? Edit: It looks like if you rotate it so it's facing outwards, it completely blocks the door, but not if you rotate it back in. Is this how it works for you? That would mean i'm hoping a raider doesn't accidentally rotate a vending machine or be aware of this trick, or they'll easily be able to loot the second vending machine.

It's the rotations, yes. Raiders can't rotate your vending machines.

rotating an empty vending machine can fully cover the access to your storage so it cannot be splashed or fired

Yes however rotating the vending machine and not showing access to the loot becomes suspicious. Raiders will think why is this vending machine here if it has no loot inside or if the base owners cannot access the loot? It gives the trick away that something is hiding behind the vending machine. The whole point of this trick is to TRICK the raiders and not let them think it’s hiding something behind it. Always give the raiders a bit of loot, so they are somewhat satisfied and don’t bother analysing your base further for more clues as they’ll be hungry to find loot

Care placing any deployables next to the vending machine. I put a charged large battery next to it to siphon the charge to the hidden battery and now it just says "rotate" and I can't access the hidden battery now.

everytime I practice and get it working the door and tc open a bunch of times UNTIL I try to open the vending machine once. The ONE TIME I open the vending machine no matter what is in my hand it will only give the option to rotate. Am I forgetting something?

@@teddy0663 sure. I'd say the "trio heaven" core is "open" enough, there's no lack of maneuverability and there's a billion large boxes in what is essentially loot room honeycomb. That said, I can do that. I just never like how it comes up in terms of price-strength ratio :/ Do u think I should still make a video even if it's something I'd never myself use?

for some reason when I destroy the floor in front of the vending the vending disappear, so is it softsidable? or the vending machine isn't appropriately placed

In the 2xVending version, it doesn't matter, since the other vending is already lootable if you know about it. In some of the other versions, if you get the placement right, the vending will be on both foundations. Tested this quite a bit. But softsiding an HQM tile just to get at a battery or locker or tc or whatever, it's not really a happening thing

@@GameLightz the alternative to having the vending machine on the exposed foundation is having the vending machine in the doorframe. it needs neither the exposed foundation, nor the hidden one then.

@@GameLightz it eliminates the the possibility to soft side the foundation to break the vendy, which increases raid cost and decreases build cost, as that foundation could then be wood or non existentent.

I'm on console & have got it to work. I put hidden vending machine 3 dots in on metal foundation, a bit left or right or dead centre doesn't matter. Then I placed door opening out, closed door & push the outside vm into the door so it flips horizontally to check it's central to door frame, then move down till it places normally & drag it towards u till it turns blue with shop side facing u. Place then rotate & put something inside outer vm. U have to be careful that the right side doesn't push in too far or it will block access & u have to remove door to access. U can just close door & line it by eye & place, just make sure it's straight

@@TGZ-SilenZz Yes, freehanded bunkers work, but not with triangle roofs/foundations. So a base like The Temple V2 will work, just you can't convert the freehand squares to triangles yet.
