I was surprised at how much of the purple came through with the amount of salt you put on. Really like the color too. Nice job.
@Bennymacattack9 жыл бұрын
Cheers man, yeah you still get quite a bit on there, that's why I go pretty heavy with the salt the first time and if I want to I can just salt it again.

Great tutorial mate. Enjoyed watching that. Im lov'n that purple colour man, thats sweet. I like it when fine salt stays in nooks and crannies. Makes it look like rust bubbles under the paint.

Hi there! Great video! I am curious what the texture is like after the process is finished (I am thinking that decals or transfers should be put on before this process). Also, if you wanted to do a second round of salt chipping, would you apply a clear coat first and then do the salt and paint? Thanks!
@Bennymacattack7 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I did a video about applying decals a while ago and in the video I put it on the same effect. It's pretty good once you clear coat it. And you don't have to clear to repeat the process just keep going over it as many times as you like man. Hope that helped, have a good one aye

Lol cheers man, I try. definitly makes for a unique paint job, don't think you could ever get the same pattern twice. Have a good one man.

@Bennymacattack9 жыл бұрын
cheers mate, cool well my advise would be to start simple like my 2014 box stock community build. Just start with basics and you need patience as well man. Hope that help mate, good luck with it.

Just want I have been looking for. Did you clear coat the base befor adding the salt, and do you clear coat after you wash of the salt for each color? Thanks
@Bennymacattack5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yes I clear coat it before the salting or the acrylic paint will just wash off during the salting process mate.I finish with a matte clear coat at the end.sorry for the late reply my KZfaq account hasn't been notifying me of new comments for some reason.

Cool video. Can you use this technique with spray can paint??
@Bennymacattack Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I haven't tried it personally but I'm sure you could as long as the pressure wasn't blowing off too much salt. Probably wanna hold the can back a bit

Hi ! it is really great!! hahabut I couldn't understand all cuz I am not a native speaeker. so may I know what the liquid is that you sprayed 😁
@Bennymacattack7 жыл бұрын
G'day, haha no worries mate, the liquid was just plain water in the spray bottle. Helps the salt stick to the body so you can paint over the salt as a mask.

Great job. I have one question though. Before you applied the salt, how'd you get the rust color? I mean when you were showing the finished product it looked rusty instead of say just Brown paint. Thank you.
@Bennymacattack8 жыл бұрын
Cheers, if you go to my channel I did a tutorial on how I got the rush look before this video. Basically using craft acrylics and sponges

hi will table salt be enought to do the job?
@Bennymacattack7 жыл бұрын
Yeah Ma it will still work, all the different salts just give it a more varied pattern but you should be able to get the same effect with table salt alone.

Thisis.my favourite way for making rust on models. I think purple is.hardes colour to make this effect. Bevpus.somehow purple and rust color is not contrasting so much. Check out on my channel how my effect.is looking . I made Nomad in this rust effect. Great video man cheers

@Bennymacattack8 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I get most of mine off eBay but you can find them in toy shops like toy world. You live in Australia or ?
@powerplaya33197 жыл бұрын
could you just do the water and salt part and not have to spray paint it?, cuz I want to do this to my 67 mustang GT and it is already painted
@Bennymacattack7 жыл бұрын
Probably wouldn't get the same effect man. You would have to put some paint over the salt to get the paint chipped look.
@powerplaya33197 жыл бұрын
+Bennymacattack ok, im going to try it my way and see what it looks like in the morning, if it doesn't work then I will sand the body with fine grit sand paper and then spray the water and put the salt on it. thank you for replying so quickly it really helps. :)
