To each their own. It’s a fun truck but mine wouldn’t hold up. If they would switch to dogbone driveshafts it would be a game changer.

The body can be annoying to get back on. Certainly not as easy as an e revo 2.0. Fingers crossed you don’t have to deal with driveshaft issues.

Yeah I had that same problem. It was fun when it worked but it was rare that it didn’t break shortly into the drive and it would break for no reason. I traded mine and haven’t looked back.

I’ve heard so many different kinds of experiences with this truck. Maybe a qc issue with the one I got? Not sure but it is a fun car for sure.

How do they hold up to flips?

It’s definitely a fun car. Couple areas that need upgrades but you’re right about ground clearance. There’s a follow up video on the channel where I address that and upgrade it.

That really does seem to be the big thing holding this car back. I wish Traxxas would redesign them.

Yeah it’s a pretty big issue with those. I wish they would’ve done a dogbone style on the ultimate but no such luck 🤷🏻

It’s meant for off-road, speed, and stability. The fact that it can’t do that without about $250 in upgrades is something that I think people should know. It’s not a bad car but considering it costs $400 and broke constantly without me hitting anything is just crazy.

@@Oni_BlxckI just saved a ton of money by buying a “slider” or “roller”. I have a 2WD rustler Vxl with a ton of upgrades and got a 4x4 rustler ultimate roller on eBay for 240. Has aluminum upgrades already I can just swap my electronics and shocks and I’m off to go

If it’s advertised to handle 3s then it should handle it.

2s lipo would be fine and in my opinion is where the truck is meant to be run. It can technically take 3s but it’s not worth the money you’ll spend in parts to fix it.

I turned mine down almost completely but it can help keep the truck from spinning out in loose terrain

@@Oni_Blxck’d argue having mine for 3 years it depends how you drive it I always run on 3s gens ace and a dusty motor cover never cooked it or overheated and only broken 2 driveshafts with the bigger sledgehammer tyres in 2 years thought I found that jumps caused the damage aluminium shock caps are a must and an upgraded steering servo as-well, which stock gave out after 2 years on the whole it runs amazing and 3s is the sweet spot for a rustler.

I’ve heard that other people haven’t had issues so maybe I got a dud. With that said I drive very aggressively and I’ve never had an issue until the rustler. In 3s I’ll take the arrma line any day for durability, price, and functionality.

I mean it can be made tough for sure but you’d have to spend a lot of money and at that point is it even worth it?
