Grate video. I put a casle SCT 3800kv brushless motor in my Russeler 4x4 with a 13t pinion and 54t spure. And running 3cell. Im getting 42mph and running a motor fan it stays cool bashing or running on a out door track. Love the power and speed of the casle creation motor. Keep doing more videos on the Russeler thanks!!

Surprised the 4000kv motor isn't too high strung for a 4x4 offroad truck. With the 4pede, people that want more speed without fighting with motor/esc issues go down in kv, usually a mild 1/8th system, then run 3-4s. I'm still limping by with my 4pede vxl with a castle 3800kv/sct sv3 esc and just recently started running 3S in it. Had to gear down to at least 11/54 to keep temps in check. So far, so good. I also have MIP x-duty cvd's. Stock sliders didn't even hold up with 2S running.

rpm 2.2 crawler wheels (wide offset) work on the rustler and brings it to the same width as the tekno e410

I got the new GTR blue anodized shocks for my slash and had to dremel out my new rpm front a arms bce they have changed the end size.

can you explain more on the upgrade for the motor? on 17 tooth pinion my stock vxl 4x4 does the same speed with 2s and seems just as responsive as the video. just a preference thing or is there anoter variable im missing?

I would not recommend getting a $400 rustler then adding another $400 in upgrades (Steel half shafts, Monster motor, monster Speed control, big bore shocks,and aluminum shock caps). I would spend $500 and get an Arrma Typhon/Kraton/Outcast/Notorious product that is already 6s capable and has all those things upgraded plus more, right from factory and the bodies won't pop off when your jump them. My first Mistake/RC was a Traxxas Stampede, which I loved for a year, playing with it almost everyday. I was blown away by it's speed, looks and jumping capability. I spent over $1500 on this truck and upgrades. Traxxas was my favorite company in the world. Until I got my Arrma truck, this truck showed me that an RC vehicle was not supposed to break on every run. I used to carry my backpack with replacement parts and tools when taking the Stampede on a walk through the mountains. Now with the Arrma, I only take extra batteries. I feel like Traxxas makes 10% of it's profits from selling it's vehicles, and 90% of it's profits from selling cheap replacement parts for it's easily broken vehicle parts. If most the RC company's profits are from replacing broken parts, then I hope Arrma can keep in business with their factory bulletproof cars not needing us to pour money in them to keep them running. This is why the aftermarket support is so great for Traxxas in hobby stores, the parts just fly off the shelves as the vehicles are always breaking something. Hobby stores would go out of business if they relied on replacement Arrma parts. The parts would just sit on the shelves, taking up space and collecting dust.

Did you install the small black price that gose in the motor mount plate it’s a small banana shaped plastic price that the bolt runs through it has 2 holes to choose from?

Why do these upgraded shocks still have plastic caps is what I want to know.

If that's a VXL and not the standard model with T12 550 Rustler. Why upgrade the VXL Rustler runs as fast as the Slash Traxxas.

I'm fairly new to the hobby but I've never heard of a brushless servo or refered to it like that. Are they more rare? I've upgraded servos in my trucks but first time hearing that. Anyone wanna fill me in a little?

why did they change up to Hex....god , i cant stand that. Its not like the Phillips screws were an issue, Ive run them for a Long time, and it was great knowing 1-3 screw drivers and some other tools was all i needed to tear the entire model down. hex is a PITA when dirt gets in them, and they strip easier than Phillips, and have less material to grip if they Do strip.

Why do you buy an vxl when you're gonna take the vxl esc and motor out? You can than just buy the brushed version because that is cheaper...
